AMD Radeon R-200 graphics cards naming unveiled

280X looks like it could be very decent, some pretty epic performance if 2560 SPU's..

How many steam processors are going to be on the 290X if the mid range is going to have potentially 2560...sheesh :D
That price though....??
Also, according to your first graph, the Hawaii XT is the 290X and the Hawaii LE is the 280X? So slight mess up there?

No one outside of AMD actually seems to know which cards are what - the most credible sources seem to think the 290 is a multi GPU card - also seen suggestions that 290 = 7990 (Southern Islands) rebadged, 290X = 7990 replacement (Volanic Islands).

So the way I can see it all happening is that on the 25th they will have their big unveiling that will show us the new cards something like this.

25th unveil R9 990x with availability some 3 weeks latter. (I wouldn't be at all surprised if we have to wait till availability for benchmarks)

25th unveil the R9 990 with promised availability in the next 2 months (before 2014)

25th mention of the other cards but no real details and vague promises of when they will be available ( gives them time to move old stock for the renamed cards to fit in)

xmas we will still be waiting for most of the range to arrive.

January 2014 the other cards will start to arrive to flesh out the line up with the dual GPU card arriving last and possibly around February/March time.

This is just my guess of how things might pan out, with any luck I am way off the mark and on the 25th they will announce all the cards and they will be available a week or so after that.

This. I think the 7970 re-brand will be at *least* £220, and more likely £220 to £240.

The recent 7970 clearance prices are just that - clearance prices to shift old stock.

The 7950 rebrand I'd put at ~£200. No way in hell it's going to be £150. Not a chance!
You forgetting one thing though- even if AMD offer equal/better spec cards, they still need to sell at lower price to shift, simply because they ain't Nvidia

7950 and 7970 been at like £100 lower price than the GTX670/GTX680 for a long while, yet they didn't shift any better comparing to the Nvidia cards.

If the $550 280X price quoted above is correct, that would put it around $100 below a reference 780. The EVGA reference model is £510 over here, which would put the 280X at something like £460-475.

I will laugh if all this is wrong and it does turn out to be 4096 SPs, 20nm, 512bit.

But as this ain't pro-wrestling I think we are close to the truth now.

A new legend like the legendary Athlon 64 epic smacking Intel in the face but smacking Nvidia instead on graphic side of things? That would I like to see :p
