*** AMD Radeon R9 290 (PRO / NON-X) Benchmarks Thread ***

They've got a stunning selections of cards available right now but the coolers have got to be destroying their sales...

Who wan'ts a noisy card that runs at 95C no matter how fast it is and cheap it is!

Here's hoping for some decent aftermarket coolers soon. Christ they should have made them a priority knowing how bad their stock cooler is.

 it's neither hot or noisy.

unless your favourite game is Furmark.

Since the 290 Pro doesn't come with customer cooler/PCB yet, that would mean more waiting. If the GTX780 price drop to £350 or less, then I'd be tempted to get that instead...but I see the chance of that happen quite slim.

So many folk saying £350 for the 780.....

Nvidia need to drop to 299.99 to compete with 290 no way around it I reckon :)

I have this card and was wondering if anybody can give me a rough estimate as to what scores i should be aiming to get in the different benchmarks

I have i5 2500 @3.3Ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM
HIS Boost R9 290

I am new to the Catalyst control panel and am not totally sure on the graph to up clock speed etc can anyone recommend a target clock speed for both clocks that is safe? The noise of these things has been massively overhyped imo .. i can barely hear mine inside my case.. it's certainly no louder than the 560Ti i swapped it for.

Well this is my Heaven 3.0 score using the same settings Gibbo did in his review.

Drivers are the 13.11 beta 9.2
My clock speeds for this were 1100/5000

I ran a quick test and using the Extreme settings i got around 1250 does that not seem low? That was on stock clocks.

Ok thanks .. i saw the score of another at over 3000 and thought my score was very low but i can see now i am using a different version.

If i was to add 10% to both clocks would that be within safe parameters? I have a 850w Antec Psu no overclock on CPU or RAM.

My stock temperature target 95 degrees, should i back that down a bit as it sounds quite high, my last GPU would lock up when it hit mid-high 90's

Using the catalyst control panel i upped my clock speed to 1028Mhz and 1300Mhz on the memory (8.5% and 4% respectively) and scored 1294 as opposed to around 1250 stock, when i added a little bit more to the clock (to 10%) my score dropped to 1275 can anyone explain why and what i should do to break 1300. So far in all tests it has been stable i jusst don't want to push my luck so thought i'd ask.
