AMD Radeon RX 7900XT and XTX release information?

Igorlabs reported that the European region (which includes the Middle East iirc) had been allocated 10000 cards and that Germany was getting 3000 of those. How many of these cards are available in the UK on launch day is anyones guess.
So 7,000 cards between Spain, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and the UK with a few dozen for the smaller countries. If that is actually Europe and the Middle East then it could be less than 1,000 cards, maybe even 500 for the whole of the UK. Honestly it'll be a surprise if any retailer short of Amazon has more than 100. AMD never, ever learn it seems.

Almost as I suggested, less than 1,000 cards, maybe even 6-700 for the whole of the UK. Honestly it'll be a surprise if any retailer short of Amazon has more than 100. AMD never, ever learn it seems.
Is this just ref cards? There must be the aib cards as well on top.

I'd be supprised if they sell out as price to performance isn't a huge amount better than a 4080 which was rumoured to have just 30k cards for the whole world yet never sold out bar a few retailers in the US due to scalpers who ended up trying to return them anyway because no one wanted them.

If 4080 is £200 more expensive than 7900 XTX and 15% slower in most games, then that gives the 7900 XTX ~30% better price performance. So it is a huge amount better.

Now that does not make it worth it and your main point stands but IMHO but it is technically a large margin. I think the 7900 XTX will sell out.

4080 aib cards and 7900xtx will no doubt be selling at the same price

If (if) AIB 7900 XTX cards are 20% - 25% faster than 4080 for the same or slightly lower price?

Look I think the prices are ridiculous but 25% - 30% better price/perf is still substantially better.

I’m not defending the prices, just pointing out that the price/perf IS a huge bit better than the 4080.

its not going to be, they will be trading blows on games imo, and the 4080 is so cut down it might as well be a 4070 anyway :P

Lets speculate from known data, that the reference 7900 XTX with 2x 8 pin is ~10% - 15% faster (overall avg) than the 4080 for £150 - £200 less. The AIBs with 3x 8 pin will be ~8% faster than the reference 7900 XTX and about the same price or slightly cheaper than the cheapest 4080s.

Still overpriced IMHO but we are looking at price/perf of two competing products. These numbers are from a leaked review on Youtube showing the 7900 XTX as ~15% faster than the 4080 at 4K. So IF accurate we could see ~25% - 30% price/perf in favour of the 7900 XTX. That is not an insubstantial improvement purely form a price/perf perspective.

How do companies like OcUK make a profit on these GPU's if they are price capped?

Is it a question of the more you buy in stock, the cheaper you pay? Then you make the difference back up?

Rumor control reckons that 4080 might be dropping in price to compete with the 7900xt/xtx launch.

https://www.techpowerup.com/301789/...-get-a-price-cut-to-better-compete-with-rdna3

This would be a very bad optic on Nvidia. If the 4080 drops to $1000 then the 4090 starts to look overpriced because 60% more cost for 25% more performance, do they drop the 4090 price as well? Do the people who bought 4080s and 4090s get a rebate? Do the retailers get refunds/rebates?

I hope it's true of course because it would be about time Nvidia were giving a massive middle finger for their greed and arrogance.

I believe Gibbo has mentioned in the past that OCUK gets "rebates" to support the lower prices on already purchased stock. As for new stock, OCUK will simply get them at a new lower price,

It doesn't matter, there are plenty of willing buyers out there that want the best of the best and it looks like it will be for a while yet.

I know that, but I should have clarified that I was thinking of how many people looked at the 4080 and thought, decent performance but crap price... I may as well get the 4090. It was in fact one of the repeated memes re the 4080 price being so bad, you may as well just put the extra to get the 4090.

Either way, the main point is how bad this is all making Nvidia look. This is their worst release in decades from a marketing perspective.

Well, I just hope OCUK have a 7900xtx available for the people who want one on launch day.
I personally will definitely try to get a 7900xtx on launch day and would much prefer to spend my money here with OCUK then shop elsewhere.

Same but I’m after an aib card. I’ll jump on one of those on OCUK as soon as they are available.
