Well, out of all the customer service nightmares i've had yorus doesn't come close.

I can see you're not going to feel that as any sort ofcomfort but it could have been a lot worse. The fact that they said in 2 weeks or not, you'd still receive the item at the same time...

Don't know why you're so desperate for people to agree, like it will right some huge injustice or something, they made a mistake, whether it was communication or they're stock had to go to fill an order. I think i'll consider AMD in a better light based on this thread.

As for the dappy bird, it happens i guess

u mean the Opteron 1218 ? that not the replacement, thats only to keep the system running till they get the phenom 9850be... also i'm not gonna keep my hopes up to keep the Opteron 1218, they could still ask for it back even though they said to keep it..

I just find it hard to believe that someone can forget where they bought something that costs £150 & must be less than 2 month old from... I wasnt taking the **** & if it came across that way i didnt mean it too... it was meant in jest :)

/exits thread and vows never to come back. :o

Not to drag this along, but if she paid for it online then she must have used plastic. Surely by just looking at her statements you could tell where it came from

i guess she didn't think of that. also i didn't think of that . but tbh we've got other problems so we haven't been thinking straight.

so you have to wait a bit for a chip? be patient, man. At least you actually have another chip you can use in the meantime, and also you get to keep it.

whining about having to wait 3 weeks is ridiculous, imo. if they have the part, they have the part. if not, then what do you expect?

Sounds like you need to go to anger management classes to me. :D
why???

im sure if this is happening to you guys or as happened. you would feel similar and disappointed, but as it's not happening to you guys, u just say things like this....

also i called amd today and they basicly said they did wrong by telling me what they said..

Well i am another one Gareth that can't really see your problem maybe if you were sitting with a doorstop for a base unit i could understand but you have a replacement chip to keep you going. Even when i have ordered stuff online there is usually a paper invoice in the packaging so not sure how that has been mislaid along it seems with everything else. As for beinfg upset because they told you two weeks and it's been longer does it really matter as long as you know your going to get it as soon as they have some. Of all the things that routinely happen that people have cause to complain about this doesn't strike me as one

but the other point is someone as to stay in the house everyday in the week just in case it just comes. as i said above for the Opteron 1218 i had no email saying it was sent out , it just came, so if nobody was in on that day i wouldn't of got it. also it wasn't a signature delivery.

What, just what? a absolutely huge number of companies as STANDARD will take 4-6 weeks to replace anything at all. The better companies will replace stuff very quickly but if theres nothing in stock won't simply send you a spare cpu to use in the meantime. I can count the number of companies that would send you a completely different part to use in the meantime on one hand. Jesus, and this is a reason to post a anti AMD thread.

If this happened to me I would have(well if i had to post a thread about everything that ever happened to me) posted a thread to say what fantastic service I'd had from AMD.

Seriously, OCZ come close, if you get a crappy clocking pair of mem sticks they will often replace them and have seemingly tried their best to make sure people who get faulty sticks get an extra good clocking set back aswell as very quick RMA turn around. Crucial are pretty fast with RMA's but nothing special, you do realise that 99% of shops had you rma'd the chip, and 99% of other companies would have left you without any chip at all for the last , however long its been. So you've gotten better service than you would have with most other companies in the world yet still chose to complain?

Dates of stocks of anything coming in, to any company, store, anything, worldwide are always flexible and never 100% accurate. Personally the mistake is more you taking it literally, when in an industry chips not being shipped, mistakes being made, pick up being 20 mins late can all result in delays and is accepted. The only time I get miffed at these things is when someone specifically say they HAVE stock, and it turns out they don't.

Now the one thing I could say is I'm not 100% sure what the opto 1218 is as I've not kept up on the naming convention, is it a quad core, dual core, or what speed it is. Even if its "only" a dual core, its still 2 cores better than any store/most companies would provide you with. Even without the replacement chip it sounds like a fairly standard RMA industry wide, with a replacement chip it becomes a story of a fantastic company going the extra mile when most don't.

i don't think they would mate. because i haven't post my rma number, so im guessing they won't know which...

No, but you did expose names. I've had to wait over 3 months for an RMA, but not for a processor and that was with constant chasing up (periods of 2 - 3 weeks.)

Sure it gets annoying, but it's better to keep chasing them (in a firm courteous manner) rather than let them forget about you. As they will get more annoyed always getting hounded of (where is it so to speak,) and can sometimes lead to "oh just send it out to that customer to get them off our backs."

And if that doesn't work just over 3 months, thats what Trade & Standards is for. It's amazing how fast things move when they are involved after everything has been exhausted. Trade & Standards is a last measure.

Anyway, I'm curious. What happened to the chip..., since nobody seems to have asked... it's not often you hear about processors getting RMA'd, unless somebody has done a doody and cracked/chipped it and then developed a fault because of that...

it had a bad core, running it at stock wasn't stable , kept getting the blue screen even if up the voltage alittle. but under clocking it to 2.40ghz made it stable..
