amd RMA is so stupid

. is it only me that can see they've mislead me or lied... they said within 2weeks. if they of said we are hoping to receive stock with 2 weeks, then yes i would agree. but by saying they will get the stock within 2weeks, it means they know it will be within that time.

anyway i received another email in the afternoon, they've guaranteed i will receive it by the end of next week so if i don't receive it by then it will be they fault..... u gonna agree with that, right?

So you were given an estimate of when the CPU would arrive and it was wrong. Boo hoo. Having worked in customer service before, unless i was hand delivering the item, when i advise some it should be done by such and such a time, its always an estimate. Im sure the AMD rep was sincere and really beklieved the estiamte was true but these things can change despite everyones best intentions. Besides you have a working (free) interim repalcement. Get over it allready.

@drunkenmaster, so if this happened to u, would u be happy to stay in the house everyday of the week just in case it just comes?

Well that would irritate me a heck of a lot, especially when infact all our delivery companies here in the old fashioned UK will in fact try delivery once then instantly send the item back to original sender without any way of you being able to get it again or collect it.

I'm depressed and look at everything negatively lately but come on. Firstly, its pretty hard to estimate when something is likely to be delivered on another continent(assuming its being sent from USA AMD). Secondly, you could take 5 days off work to wait for it, or you could take no time off work, use the SPARE CPU THEY SENT YOU THAT NO OTHER COMPANY IN THE WORLD WOULD HAVE DONE, wait for the little "we tried to deliever" notice, then arrange delivery for the next day or pick it up when you're free. is that really that hard. Whose to say the days and days you take off, you won't be stuck on the bog when the chip actually arrives and you miss the delivery anyway.

Like i said, this is would be mildly frustrating, but not bad service, without the replacement chip, with a replacement chip this is an RMA above and beyond what 99% of companies would provide.

I don't understand the "I have to stay in every day just incase or I'll never ever get my CPU back, ever" part.
Maybe couriers/postmen work differently down your way but (as said above) if I ever miss a parcel being delivered, it'll be taken to the local depot with a small note left at my house allowing me to phone to arrange a re-delivery. That way you know for sure what day you need to stay in the house.

It's a topic created so everyone would agree that AMD are a disgrace and you're really hard done by. It hasn't worked because people have experience far worse RMA's, you've not had to wait too long at this point in time, and you've also got the spare Opteron (could have given you a Sempron) which allows the PC to be used.

hmmm i didn't say "or I'll never ever get my CPU back, ever" if your gonna quote something, you should quote it right, not by changing it

Whilst not a direct quote their points are still valid, i'm not having a go but if it was me (not going to tell you what to do with your time) , i'd make sure it was a registered package so it's not left and nicked, crack on with the opty and just let it come when it comes. If you happen to be out ( or not in city links case :P) then they'll leave a card and you can pick up/reschedule a delivery at your leisure. If i took a week off work to wait for a processor i'd be canned and/or starving

1 or 2 people did agree, look on page 1

Are you for real?
what? yes im for real, i don't think a died person would beablie to type here ...:D

for the people who see this thread is pointless, why continue to post in it. u have the choice by not posting in it. theres no rule saying u must post in every thread even if u think it's a pointless thread.

how though? they are sending it.

Phone them, request it, if it isn't part of their policy then depending on the cost you could pay it? cheaper than staying home all day for a week.

As for your post about it being a pointless thread, thats primarily down to you not acknowledging other points of view or embracing the help that's offered, all you're doing is complaining.

Fair enough you're annoyed but it'd be far more constructive to put that out of the way and concentrate on sorting it properly.

Good idea though, wasted enough time here.

What is so shocking about this episode?
They offered a replacement while sourcing stock. Few would do this.

Shocking would have been them saying two weeks, not sending a replacement, not responding at all. I've seen that quite a few times from other vendors and service sector firms.

Have you ever dealt with British Airways Customer Services? Now that is shocking.

Chill out, it is only a CPU. 100.000 people just died from a Cyclone in Burma...

i didn't mean me thinking it's a pointless thread. i meant for thoses people who think or said it's a pointless thread then they have the choice by not posting in it..

yes people have they point of view and i accept that but it doesn't mean i must agree to them all.. everybody is different and think differently. if everybody thinks the same the world would be a boaring place..

simple as that really...

That's why it's pointless though, you're not accepting any other points of view than your own.

AMD suck, you should have been gettin' a new Fenommm immediate bruv' , like next day stylez yeah? Why they* be opressin' us like this?

*AMD

You'd agree with that post if it was real.
In the real world, you've not been waiting that long, mistakes/accidents happen and it's rare to get as good a service as you've got so far. Even sending back to the retailer could net you worse service or an "inspection fee" and the same chip sent back.

i'd make sure it was a registered package so it's not left and nicked

It's a recorded package/delivery. ¬_¬

If you happen to be out ( or not in city links case :P) then they'll leave a card and you can pick up/reschedule a delivery at your leisure.

Mmm City-Link. I love it when they claim they've carded a persons house (until you check the online tracking system) and you see there's no card through the letter box. Then it gets sent out again, and they claim they have carded it again. The above repeats. Round and round the spin dryer we go. Oh yes! "Sorry can't send it out until tomorrow!"
