From the 1080Ti perspective also, the Gigabyte cooler isn't cutting it either but it is a much bigger chip and needs a beefier cooler.Yeah sadly it seems to be Gigabytes turn to drop the ball with their AMD gpu's,
It's only fair though It was MSI and Asus's turns last time![]()
Haha no comment.
I think you was impressed with the G1 because you came from a noisy Titan X and/or because you have not seen the better coolers available Gregter. The cooler on my G1 gaming is not much of an improvement over my MSI Gaming 290. After spending some time with the card I am certain the huge AMP Extreme Edition coolers are on another level. Which is only natural anyway, they are a lot bigger and heavier, so much so you end up with sag. From the 1080Ti perspective also, the Gigabyte cooler isn't cutting it either but it is a much bigger chip and needs a beefier cooler.
Yer, could well be spot on. I had been water cooled for a number of years and my last air cooled was my Titan X and that blower was ******* loud lolI think you was impressed with the G1 because you came from a noisy Titan X and/or because you have not seen the better coolers available Gregter. Still, I would much rather have a AIO watercooler on a card, as long as the manufacturer does not take the mickey with price. I would be very happy with a Fury X type cooler on Vega as long it does not have the whine issue Fury X did. The benefit of AIO for me is super easy installation (no need to mess about like you do with custom watercooling), you get all the heat being dumped out of the case, a lot less noise and obviously a lot lower temps![]()

Finally a sensible article on RX500: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3189...-are-a-faster-better-polaris-for-new-pcs.html
The 500 series are THE excellent buy for people doing new builds or upgrading from very old cards, and want a future-proof mid-range card.
why is amd releasing mid range cards? i thought the 580 will be a full fat card to compete with the 1080/ti
so I assume amd will release a 590 right?
Yep. That will be RX Vega.1080/ti competition won't come under the 500 series branding.
What do you know anywayThey do it because they sell.
24hr passed and around 300 units 500 series sold which is crazy because even I recommend customers buy the G1 480 8G at 209.99
oh i see, so when is the RX vega coming out? being a cool name they should have stick to 590 or numbers, I suppose rx vega sounds like titan x but way cooler, also how much do you think the rx vega will cost, estimation?Yep. That will be RX Vega.

The current release date it Q2 so any time before end of June. However there are signs that it maybe in May sometime. Hard to say what the price will be as it depends what the performance is for each card. There will be minimum two cards, but I think there will be 4 in the range. I am expecting 1080Ti or there abouts for performance, but most here think 1070/80 performance. We will see.oh i see, so when is the RX vega coming out? being a cool name they should have stick to 590 or numbers, I suppose rx vega sounds like titan x but way cooler, also how much do you think the rx vega will cost, estimation?

Wouldn't call buying a RX 500 series card moronic. There are much worse things you could do to earn yourself that tag.Never underestimate the moronic nature of the average buyer![]()
This Week Only finished...@Gibbo the 8gb 480 G1 is showing at 229 on the website.. I presume its gone up again.
