So I currently have an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 with a stock cooler and it's running 50 degrees at idle?

Is this normal? I haven't done any overclocking and my case has 2 front case fans and 1 exhaust fan.

I've got a 1600 overclocked to 4ghz and I've got temps of low 20s on idle, but that is with a Kraken X62. Yours does seem a little high.

I've just picked out a R7 1700 which i plan to overclock to at 4.0ghz with a EKWB CPU Supremacy waterblock and Asus Crosshair Hero 6 Motherboard. 1800x speeds for £200 less

Other half's 1600 runs at low 40's on idle, mix of poor air circulation and a 3.8GHz overclock. Try reseating the cooler with a decent paste and see if that improves temperatures.

As above, I've built 5 systems with three different Ryzen CPU's and they were all in the mid to high 20's even on the stock coolers.

Remove, and re-seat the heatsink and check the thermal paste application.

Your CPU isn't at idle as you can see clearly in hwinfo the package is using 45w right now. At proper idle total package power should be below 20w and the individual cores using ~0.2w power.

However, even at such low load the temps should be lower even with the stock cooler. So take a look at whether it is seated properly and the fan is spinning up appropriately. The fan speed you can see on hwinfo as well further down. Check in bios what the fan profile looks like.

Sorry PUBG was open in background but like i said at idle 50-55 degrees celsius.
