AMD Ryzen 5 1600 50 degrees at idle

Go and purchase some thermal compound first (Thermal Grizzly Kryonault is a good place to start), meanwhile check if you've tightened up your CPU cooler correctly first.

For your reference, my 1700 @3.8/1.375v runs idle at 35C in a NH-D15 @450rpm.

Many boards are incorrectly reporting temps. I need sensemi skew disabled in order for me to get correct temps otherwise my idle reports as 9 degrees and we know that's not right.
What are the load temps like? If you cannot wait for fancy stuff to arrive go to any franchise retailer and get some cheap stuff for the time being.

Ordered some thanks for the suggestion, also ordered an kraken x52 but won't be here for another few days. Hopefully a new cooler will sort the problem.

So i just downloaded Aida64 to stress test it and it's indicating 42 degrees idle ~15 degrees less then HWinfo and Ryzen Master and 64 degrees under load. HWinfo and Ryzen Master indicating 80-87 degrees under load. Confusing!

Does the heatsink or the area around the heatsink feel like 80 degrees?
I've sound with sensemi on auto, the temps vary on each boot. Sometimes its 9 degrees idle other times its 30.
Now I leave it disabled. The way AMD measure the temps is stupid IMO.

My 1700 oc to 3.9 only
CPU Temp Idle: 19/22 C - CPU CINEBENCH Load: 64C
VRM SOC IDLE: 42/45 C - VRM SOC CINEBENCH Load: 68C

With MX 4 Paste / Phanteks PH-C14S AIR COOLER on Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming 3

How many volts is that at Darren?
22c does seem very low.

Do I need an AM4 bracket for this? I might just buy one of these and some good thermal paste. Any suggestions?

Yes you need a bracket. OCUK sell them for £2.99. I think new stock from NZXT is coming in at the end of May which will already include the bracket.

I also had some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut lying around so I used that instead of the pre-applied stuff.

Memory set to 1.35Volts & CPU running At 1.392 Volts After Applying +0.204V of Dynamic Vcore , 3.9 GHZ i will leave it at ,
Not going to try 4.0ghz , CPU Temp Reached a Cool 64c in Cinebench Using ARCTIC MX 4 Paste the Phanteks TC14s air cooler , Very Happy with 1692 Points.

Phanteks PH-TC14S Cooler Is Super , The AM4 brackets i got in post , I email PHanteks EU , 1700 Keeps Very Cool ,Hardly any heat when playing PREY

I don't think that temperature is accurate.

Not sure what to think Now ,CPU Temp In bios Reads 45 to 50c , When booting into windows Is there a chance that Cooling tech kicked in to make it goto 19 /25c or maybe the Bios Temp is incorrect ??

That bios temp actually looks more like what you should be seeing. I don't know what board you have, do you have sensemi options in the bios?

Got temp sensors All over the board , VRM ,CPU ,Chipset

Doesn't mean much unfortunately Darren. My board with sensemi on auto "chooses" what temp it wants to show. Yesterday I showed I have a 9degree idle. Today I have a 30 degree idle. The only way I can ensure I get consistent readings is to disable sensemi. I do not for a second think that your CPU is a 19c at idle with 1.4v going through it.
I'm at 1.37 with a corsair h100i pump set to max and my "proper" reading is 30c idle. This ties in with pretty much every review out there.

mine idles at about 30 31, ran aida64 for an hour last night and went to 40c.

Really impressed running a Phanteks PH-TC14 as well brilliant cooler.

Only running at 1.25v 3.6ghz on my 1600 though but can't grumble at those temps. for gaming the extra heat from overclocking not really worth it.
