Essentially an 3600 but with SMT disabled.

The main reason it is interesting is because it's cheaper than the 3600 (£129 appox)
But it also appears to have better minimum frame rates in many of the gaming benchmarks.

The only problem is availability.
It's not officially available in the UK, it has to be imported.

What do you guy's reckon?
New budget gaming CPU king?

I could bring some in but we were an AMD partner they’d not want us selling it. :(

I guess it would only really makes sense if the price would be considerably lower than the 3600 price.

As we can always buy the 3600 and just manually disable SMT in the BIOS to achieve the same FPS 1% low result within an select game that prefers SMT to be off.

But like you said, probably not worth upsetting the AMD rep. :D

Ordered! for £110.52

£91.17 for the 3500X
£19.35 for shipping (tracked)

This will be for a new 'shoe string budget' gaming rig build. (upgrading from i7 6700k).

Just ordered it, probably will not turn up till sometime in January (but no rush).
I'm more curious than anything, I like to mess around and tinker lol.

You can get the 3600 for £21 more, shipped

£21 saved then... it can go towards an cheap X570 mobo. :)
a friend just did a build on a budget, he paid £89 for a 2600,, i dont dear show him this

£89 isn't a bad deal for a 2600, the only issue is it's old tech now.
No PCIe Gen4, no IPC improvement, no higher memory clocks etc.

The B550 and A520 boards should be out by then.

The catch is no PCIe Gen4 though.

While not really an game changer here and now but it's probably best to have gen4 going forward for future proofing though.
We 'might' start seeing larger FPS percentage differences between gen3 and gen4 if future GFX cards can better utilise the available bandwidth.
The 3Dmark PCIe bandwidth test does clearly show an difference, but it is an extreme test case condition designed to show just that.
I couldn't point to an actual game that bottlenecks to the same degree in the same way.

Looks like you'll have it by Wednesday then. :)

How much was the DHL option, £20?

Yup £20, they had multi-able postage services listed.
But I could not select any particular one on check out.
So I didn't know until the tracking information appeared a couple of days later.

Is there a customs payment?

Don't know, but will do soon (it's the chance you take).
If there is, the shipper will normally put the item in an holding area until you pay the outstanding duty online.

I did get stung for an carbon fiber mountain bike frame from China, but it was an much larger more expensive item.

I have one these heatsinks I've never used hanging around: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/be-quiet-dark-rock-4-cpu-cooler-hs-01d-bq.html
It's only an 65w CPU so this will handle it no problem.

If I hadn't of already had one to use I probably would I gone with a Coolermaster 212 Evo or an Snowman. (something cheap and cheerful is all you need).

And for the RAM... I ordered some more b-die because I know it works well with Ryzen and it OCs like an champ.

I ordered one a few days ago before i saw this thread, total came to just under £86 including delivery

Well that's an awesome price find, pretty much half the price of an 3600.
Personally I think AMD should re-consider selling these CPUs outside of Asia/China.
If this has proved anything it's if we want something, we are still going to find a way to get it (it's an small world after all).
