AMD RYZEN 5000 SERIES 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X NOW ONLINE AT OcUK!!

From what I can gather, initial launch stock sold out quick (which is okay) but the substantial follow-on stock has been significantly delayed. Once this 'boat comes in' I'd expect pretty much all pre-orders to be filled, then the much lower the weekly order rate will be met by regular weekly deliveries. I don't this significant shortage (and price gouging) will last more than another 2-3 weeks.

I'm on 1.5, but then again, I upgrade my comp every other year. Not because I have to, but because I want to. This time however, I wanted something that would last me for a couple of years.

Same. I'm playing at 4k so I know I'm going to have a cpu bottleneck for the foreseeable. I'm figuring more cores could be make or break in a year or so.

I had a quick look around and from what I can find, almost everyone tells me that new stock for the 5600x should be in around the end of November or mid December.

The other eTailer contacted me about my 3080 today so should have that in a week or so.....just this 5800x to complete the jigsaw puzzle. Hoping stock ramps up swiftly as is the rumour

I was lucky enough to snag a 5800x on day one, however two days later the chip died on me ☹️. So now I'm waiting for the restock after an RMA. Hopefully we get an update soon.

That's so unlucky.

Although I have read a post somewhere of someone else having the exact same thing happen.

... slightly concerning.

On a well known auction site there is a listing for a 6800XT. With 5 days still to go the current bid stands above £62,000.

if you're playing at 4k then your getting a GPU bottleneck. Its actually less likely that your CPU is being taxed when running at 4k than at lower resolutions.

Yeah sorry, meant gpu. Despite deciding not to jump the gun on 4k like I did with 1440p, I'm tied to annual gpu upgrades for the next few years. I'm figuring a 5900X is useful if games get more core hungry this gen.

I doubt any game will make use of more than 6 cores for the next few years at least - 50% of people still have quad core CPUs and hardly any games make use of them.
