To the OP, I did a similar move yesterday after umming and awwing for a few weeks and reading many, many threads about whether the upgrade is worth it or not. In my case, it was moving from a Ryzen 3600 to the 5800x3d, this with 32GB and a 3060ti playing at 1440p on a 32" monitor.

It is a substantial and noticeable improvement and I wish I'd done it sooner. Get on with it OP

kind of in a similar situation, 16 gigs ram, rog strix b 450 f gaming motherboard, ryzen 9 3900x cpu, 2080 super graphics card, i would definetely be looking at a new cpu and graphics card, wonder if the motherboard would be ok ?

I would think so. Check the latest BIOS to see if it supports a 5800X3D.

So thats why i had a random notification saying you liked one of my comments about enabling kombostrike lol.

@8myers8 As with Mags i went from a 3600nonx to a 5800x3d and i saw a massive improvement. Lows are much higher and smoother and i saw large jump in average fps.

The reason why people get accused of fanboying it, is because if your coming from 3000 series or lower its such a hefty jump in performance and people are so happy with it.

And to add to this and I suppose my own earlier post, my main concern wasn't whether the CPU jump was worth it (that seems apparent to anyone who has had even a cursory glance at almost any review) but whether my 3060ti - already on 99% or 100% usage in most of my games - would materially limit any benefits the 5800x3d could deliver. Or to put it another way, would I benefit in a meaningful way from a chip that is held by back by the GPU to make it not worthwhile as a purchase. I answered this already above - it makes a very, very big difference to me and my set up. No ifs, no buts - it has been a great upgrade and has seriously extended the life of my current AM4 platform.

Also, Zenduri - I went straight to Kombostrike 3 (hence the like), did nothing else in BIOS and clocked 15,100 in cinebench which I understand is in the ballpark so good enough for me.

You should also be able to upgrade your GPU a fair bit without bottlenecking GPU performance.

Nope, it is as intended A 5800X3D is fine for a 3060Ti but it will also not limit a 4080, depending on resolution. Plenty of room for upgrades on the GPU side without changing out the CPU

Whilst I get that you love your motherboard...AM5 is getting affordable and if you really want future proof then the logical step is to get off the platform as you will hit the limit with the 5800x3d.

A 7600/x will perform as well as a 5800x3d if you're using it for gaming.

Personally think spending £250 ish, which is what they seem to sell for, for a 5800x3d isn't the best option right now, but will give you the performance lift you're wanting.

I got a b660 motherboard (Admittedly a low end one, but still 2.5gb lan, 2*4.0 nvme slots etc), Ryzen 7600 and 32GB of DDR5 ram for a net cost of £309. It would have been £369 if I went for the B660 tuf with pci 5.0 nvme etc, but I didn't want ATX nore need it really.

I went from a 3600x to a 5800X3D. Big difference in gaming for me. Everything was so much smoother due to better 1% lows.

Should see me through another 1-2 GPU upgrades before a complete platform upgrade is required.

Nope 7600 + 32GB of Kingston Fury Beast RGB DDR5 5200mhz (CL36) ram was £242, minus the 15% of the cost of vouchers (A red high street store...) = £205.

Gigabyte B650m K motherboard brand new for £103.

That sounds very cheap even for them. A normal ATX B650 board new DDR5 6000 32GB and a 7600 will run you about £500 at new prices.
