AMD sued by Richtek: Proposed "import ban"

Depends on the judge now. I can't imagine the judge and the lawyers understanding what they will be saying in the court room :)

No they will will pay some outrageous fee to some "expert" to put it over in understandable terms, this will cost a fortune and guess who will end up paying for it on their bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

Can a mod change any mention of AMD to Nvidia so we can have proper bash thread? nobody plays when it's AMD. :p

Hehe, as others have said in this case it seems to be a patent for a certain way to set up power circuitry, rather than the actual parts invidivually, but the way the individual parts are used is rather, well, common sense that anyone would do.

Will probably come to nothing though, so many of these cases become nuisance suits that its easier to throw a few mil than have your CEO called across the world for a new deposition every week all year, which was part of the reason AMD were happy to accept cash from Intel and Intel were happy to get it done and dusted, so many of the higher ups have spent hundreds of hours in courtrooms and travelling to be disposed that both sides were completely fed up with the situation.

Been said already, but I'm fairly suprised such patents exist when, in the eyes of experts, the configuration of said devices is common sensical?
