AMD to bring another performance driver!

Yer spot on. I ummed and arrred over getting a 980 or 2 but glad I didn't. I even think I am going to skip the next GPU release and wait it out a bit longer (if I can).

290/290x/780/Titan/780Ti are still very capable cards and sad when I say that going from last gen to the 980/970 isn't worth it for me. They all perform so close to each other, nothing is going to show any difference side by side (except if you are running a G-Sync monitor of course) :p

(Sorry, had to slip that in) :D

I would also like to see this. A nice graph of what does what in several games would be sweet.

Here is a couple of benches showing scaling using 1 and 4 GTX 980s as you can see it is very good.

1600p 4 x 980 @1472/1962

1600p 1 x 980 @1472/1962

Rangerjr1 should not believe all the rubbish on those garbage websites.:D

Here are another couple @4K with Tomb Raider Totally maxed

1 x 980 @1472/1962 5960X @4.0

4 x 980 @1472/1962 5960X @4.0

Here is another one

This is Crysis 3 maxed @1600p

This is from the start in the rain to getting inside the building.

1 x 980 @1472/1962 CPU 5960X @4.0

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
2405, 89391, 21, 41, 26.904

4 x 980 @1472/1962 CPU 5960X @4.0

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
9556, 89547, 54, 151, 106.715

I Think the scaling is working fine.:D

I don't need to justify my purchase as I got exactly what I was looking for with the 980s.

I still have

4 Titans
4 x 290Xs
2 x GTX 690s
2 x GTX 590s
2 x HD 5970s
4 x GTX 980s

So I don't have to worry about justifying anything as I think I have got most things covered.

Unlike you I enjoy technology regardless of who makes it and am not biased to one brand or the other. If only you could follow this example your posts would be a lot more interesting.

So no comment on the scaling i presented to you? Not surprised.

So no comment on the scaling i presented to you? Not surprised.

I have just presented several examples of very good scaling in this thread.

What have you presented apart from garbage from a website that can not review squat.

You have presented nothing apart from biased opinions.

The GTX 980 is a very good card live with it.

Almost forgot, have you seen how bad 4 x 290Xs scale on some of those games scale on the games used in that review you linked, MLL is not a pretty site for the Hawaii cards lol

Here you go Rangerjr1 let me help you and PCPER out as I have no problem running 4 x 980s on GRID 2 @4K

I have used max settings including 8XMSAA @4K(pcper used 4xMSAA)

Here is a run with my 4 x 980 cards at stock.

GRID 2 @4K Max Settings including 8XMSAA.
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
36773, 208719, 122, 196, 176.184

I think the 980s scale fine.:)

The race lasted a very long time as I can not driver lol.:o

@Rangerjr1 please stop quoting off of garbage websites.;)

Here are the GRID 2 frame times for the above run as well

bA6ahwi.png

I think they are quite reasonable for 4K maxed.

They may have been a bit better if I had not kept crashing every 5 seconds.:o:p:D

You're missing the point.

You're only showing me end results which look good yea, but could they be better? Show me 1 to 2 cards, 2 to 3 cards and 3 to 4 cards. And compare them all to see the ACTUAL SCALING.

And come on, grid 2? Everything will scale on Grid 2.

I have shown you better scaling and higher fps using 8XMSAA and 4K than your link managed using 4XMSAA and 1440p lol.

How much more do I need to do to discredit your source.

My average @4K using 8XMSAA is higher than their max @1440p using 4XMSAA.

You are busted, admit it.

Something else you don't know, all the games in that series scale very well providing you turn the settings up high enough.

Anyone know roughly when this driver/new catalyst is expected to drop? Nice to see AMD catching up with Nvidia, I did feel slightly left behind when I compare what Nvidia have over the current AMD drivers. Another performance increase (up to 15% from what I read on another website?!) seems pretty awesome too.

I don't specifically favour either way, I just favour price to performance so will be nice to see my current card getting improvements. :D

Really? because a lot of people in this forum claim this too that nvidia drivers are slightly better... well they claim they are more superior so they may be the the so called male fans of nvidia.

Yes, 99% of them don't run AMD and wouldn't have a clue how AMD drivers perform in comparison.

The 'my drivers are better than your drivers' is garbage imo using both-they both perform great in games.

Still my point stands nvidia drivers are slightly better, AMD drivers are just catching up. You backed this up with the features you outlined they are adding. So my point stands.

I didn't outline the features Nvidia are trailing before Omega drivers release, after they release some will trail even further behind when those features advance some more.

AMD have features Nvidia don't have and vice versa, check the full feature set in the slides and compare, Nvidia have plenty of features to catch up on.

Both have features the other doesn't have is what I'm talking about.
