Vega is the Furys replacement, the 490, was rumoured to be a dual 480, to compete with the 1070/80.

All Just rumors though, no-one knows anything concrete at the moment. I am speculating that small Vega will be a 490 and large Vega a Fury/Rage product with the 490 having GDDR5X and Fury/Rage having HBM2 and both obviously being on larger dies.

We will all just have to wait and see. :)

6 cards that have been drip fed out at hugely inflated prices and are still down on the top end of what is possible (talking what is possible while atleast somewhat cost effective in consumer space - obviously you could go super crazy and make something faster again that cost like £200,000 a working unit to produce in any volume).

6 cards that spank the competition while consuming far less power, producing far less noise and producing far less heat.

Who cares if we are drip fed, when you have an advantage this massive you can do whatever you want.

Still a poor way to treat the customer - granted 16nm is not a cheap process to either design or manufacture on but nVidia are taking the mick. (I've had a look into having a custom ASIC - DC-DC POL device - produced at TSMC so I have some idea just how much nVidia are milking it).

I see where you're coming from, though you have to look at the big picture and see how well the 10 series are selling. NVIDIA has record sales and profits, as people want the new performance levels offered by these cards and are prepared to pay the asking prices.

For those who don't want to pay as much, the 970/980/980ti now have big discounts, so there are options for everyone.

Sadly they are selling which gives nVidia no reason to do anything otherwise :S

I never expected this generation to be cheap - but nvidia have both pulled all the products down a tier and increased prices - they are literally having their cake and eating it this round.

24 tflops?!

Also?

"Vega20 will use 7nm GFX9 architecture. It will feature 32GB of HBM2 memory with 1 TB/s of bandwidth. TBP is around 150W and it will support PCI-Express 4.0. It will also have 64 Compute Units."

lol what?

Sounds amazing, but sort of too good to be true as this sounds like an absolute quantum leap in everything compared with Polaris.

16gb of hbm2 sounds a bit too good to be true also ( would that not be very expensive)? I hope it is true though. One of these could run my new 1440p freesync 144hz monitor for a good while and it sounds like they will be much faster than my 1070 if those specs are to be believed.

Lol yeah those "rumours" are nothing but pure BS. That is what I'd expect from the Vega successor (except for maybe half the ram so 16Gb) in 2018/2019, but in 2017? No chance.

:p

But-but-but-but... look at power consumption, look at how much they consume! If you go with the 970 you could save 2 pence a day!! Who cares about >20% performance difference, think of the savings!

AMD fans where not saying that with there 5970's when the GTX 480 got released, they where quite happy (and rightly so) to rip nvidia a new on on the heat and power of that thing.

but then the tables turned with the 290/390 its not an issue anymore.

AMD Vega 20 will use Glo Flo 7nm? I highly doubt that as they said they only just decided to skip 10nm and go to 7. Are Global foundries even producing 7nm wafers yet?

Maybe true for Navi but doubtful for vega.
