Same, but I couldn't drop below 75Hz now tbh. I try to keep things above 70fps, nice and smooth

Same here Freesync and 70+ feels great.

Personally I think we should be expecting roughly 1080 performance, and anything better is a bonus :)

I would like more because of the wait and how late it is to the table but it seems that that's more likely the level of Vega.

With running the Ti I have to run the ULMB mode so I don't get any frame skips, but it works well tbh :)

I imagine 1080 performance will be the minimum you'll need for ultrawide 1600, you also have relatively small window you'll need to remain in the Freesync range, that said it's best to keep everything above a minimum of 50 anyway, Although my range goes down to 30 I try to set each game up so the worst is when it dips into the 50's.

Yes, but I think this Ti is spoiling me somewhat. I'm going to need performance to be hitting near Ti speeds if I'm going to switch, but I don't think it's going to happen :(

I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised though! ;)

Nah, I reckon it is very good but just needs the finishing touches and hence the teasers are exactly that!
I hope so,

Vega should slot in very nicely.

I would have liked to have grabbed a 1080ti or even a 1080 to tide me over but if I had there would have been no Vega money left :(
As it is now I have my Vega money and I'm slowly saving for next years Ryzen or Coffeelake upgrade.

I did say ages ago jokingly that by the time vega gets here I would have saved enough for a whole new build, worked out it was not as funny as it sounded

I've been saving for awhile what with Intel hardly doing anything on the CPU side in years and how long we were stuck on 28nm - the GTX1070 was about the only thing that touched my upgrade pot in like 3 odd years or so.

EDIT: Monitor purchases aside it really has been 3 years since my last major PC tech spend!

Maybe it's just our definition of what "game changing" is. For me "game changing" means something that radically alters the way we play games or watch movies. HDR is a welcome update to image quality but I couldn't say it's massive leap forward. I think Gsync and Freesync are more game changing than HDR, even though I don't even consider them to be truly game changing either.

Personally for me, VR is a game changer.
Well I wasn't accusing you of saying HDR is bad. But I felt you were definitely pushing back on the idea that it'd be a big leap.

You're right though, we seem to be just coming from a different angle on what 'gamechanger' means. And by your own definition, I would agree. VR would definitely make HDR look like a more minor jump by comparison.

HDR in VR though....... :p Apparently Valve already had a prototype HDR VR headset working and said they were blown away and very sad to have to go back to normal displays(despite still being OLED). It's interesting too, cuz the point of VR is to recreate reality, which actually makes the higher brightness/contrast abilities of HDR more relevant to VR than it does to 2d screens.

It'll be fun times once it rolls around.

Anyways, we're probably getting fairly off-topic here..............as if anybody cares.....!

While this is, i suspect, more related to Polaris than Vega, I've just read an article on Hexus about the Scorpio dev kit with specs and it has 44 CU on the GPU. That'd give it 2816 cores, with scorpio having 2560 cores. I wonder if they'll turn up on the PC ala 590/590X.

If we ever get to the point where we have HDR in VR then VR will be booming!!

As for Off Topic? lol, this whole thread!! :p:D
