I remember those t-shirt! A female friend nicked it off me, and I've never seen it since!

Massive things though, I got a US Large with my 8800GTX, and was like a tent, so I can see why she took it. Who needs a robe when you have a BFG shirt.

we cant expect decent prices when these cards are released because they are limited numbers so they will have huge mark up like all limited stuff has.

;)

GDDR5x and the upcoming GDDR6 seem to have tripped HBM up which is a shame for AMD especially with the problems surrounding their HBM source if accurate.

This is sometimes the problem with new technologies. They take loner to become mainstream than initially anticipated and the first versions don't achieve the performance claims stated. It also comes with teething pains and supply issues. Meanwhile, the old technology always seems to find a way of getting that little extra out of it before it has to retire. GDDR5x and 6 is nothing exciting, just using the newest fabrication process to allow lower voltage, lower power and higher speeds. But that is enough to ensure it just as competitive.

Even if AMD set competitive pricing the retailers will charge a premium if they only have a few in stock.

So the vega hype train hits 500 pages and we still don't know the complete spec's or if we are getting little vega, big vega or gay vega:D I feel AMD's lack of info into vega will hurt them. NV release the ti and new titan XP and vega still no where to be seen. we have more info on volta than vega.
If vega is so good, AMD should be teasing everyone with specs and hardware so they don't buy down the green road. 1 year after pascal and AMD still not launched Vega or given any info that's going to stop the Nvidia march to more profits.

I really wanted vega to be something special and blow Nvidia out of the water. seems vega will be another nearly and a year + late to market.

Pascal ti or Volta Ti at Christmas?
Hopefully Volta will be here for chrimbo, as I am pretty much staying with NVidia now with me owning an Asus ROG PG348Q screen (which is mind blowing) but regardless, I will be doing my best to hold off for the Volta Ti.

As said before, Nvidia didn't market the Titan Xp, even the TI, just bam, there it is. We knew the TI was coming but I doubt many knew about the Xp.

If they hyped up the New Titan or the Ti then they might have lost sales of the first Titan or the 1080.

Not in the slightest bit comparable. The onyl way AMd can stop someone buying a 1080/ti right now is to give some more definitive information on vega. That hasn't happened.

I'm looking into a doing a new build having not had a gaming rig for a fair few years (resorted to using a laptop but the lack of GPU upgradeability has resorted in me deciding to go back to a desktop) - the last gfx card I bought pre-laptop was a Radeon HD 4870x2 and I'm in such a quandary as to what to do - wait for Vega and pray it is at least comparable to a 1080 and matures well or hold off, buy a 480 to tide me over until Volta appears further down the line....

I can't stand the not knowing and lack of leaks re: Vega - surely if it was as amazing as they hope it will be then they would be proud to show it off? I would like Vega to do to Nvidia what Ryzen did to Intel - I'm not bothered about it being the fastest or best GPU out there just as long as it is genuinely good value for money... Plus, I would be happy buying a full Team Red Build (Ryzen/Vega combo) to support the efforts AMD are doing to try and put the cat amongst the pigeons with their pricing strategies.... as healthy competition is good for everyone but especially us the consumer.

Rubbish, there are plenty of people on here who would only buy AMD ergo AMD has stopped them making a Nvidia purchase so your rebuttal has fell apart right there :p

Pascal ti or Volta Ti at Christmas?

It'll most likely be the smaller Volta chip we get first, which should be mildly faster than the 1080 Ti?

It's what they did with the 680, 980, and 1080.

I'd have thought we won't see the Volta Ti until Q3/Q4 2018 at the earliest.
