AMD will live stream its 6th Jan CES 2020 press conference

LOL what ever pills your popping... I want some. :)

All i can say is, dont get involved in the hype that people around here can drum up. im an AMD fan and want them to compete at the highest of levels but mark my words. if there was an announcement that they have a card capable of 2080ti performance, people on this forum would say one of two things.

its too late and is competing with 2yr old tech or something a long the lines of it needs to be no more than £49.99

Navi 21 is expected to be significantly more powerful than that RTX 2080 Ti. It will make it look like a mid-range card.

i hope you're right, i really do..But I also remember people saying polaris was going to compete with the Gtx1080

The thing is though he's right.

Yes, there won't be a RTX 2080 Ti. Ever. Actually, if you think about it seriously, the only way this to happen is if AMD declares bankruptcy now.
Which of course is not going to happen, so you will see many more things than just a stupid "RTX 2080 Ti competitor".

Mind you that the ray-tracing technology in all RTX cards is still very premature and many developments in that area are yet to come.

I’m expecting a pretty disappointing showing... at least from the enthusiast perspective.

I think it’ll revolve around mid tier stuff like the 5600 and any “Zen 3” news will be largely limited to their new APU’s which will be basically Zen 2 architecture.

Will be surprised if we get more than a cursory mention or very light overview of anything more interesting such as true Zen 3 or higher end GPU/rdna 2 info.

Would love them to come up with a GPU range with the same impact Ryzen has had on the CPU market.

Think it’ll take them a couple of generations.. look at Zen, Zen+ and Zen 2. While Zen put them back on the radar it wasn’t really until Zen 2 this year that they have really managed to get that killer product and make truly substantial inroads to market share.

Arguably one could expect similar from RDNA... 5700XT and 5700 are good products for the price (relative to the competition anyway, one could argue all the cards are too expensive) much like Zen was, but I don’t think it’s the killer product stack that allows AMD some real market share growth in the GPU sector.

I hope with rdna2 or what comes after, they can finally disrupt the GPU market like they have done with the CPU arena. Will be tougher though as Nvidia don’t appear to be sleeping on the job to the same extent intel were... their market dominance and associated arrogance has led to price rises but not a lack of innovation or development.

I like AMD, but I won’t buy their products solely because of that - they have to offer me a compelling product at a price that works. They did that with Zen 2, here’s hoping they can do it with GPU, otherwise it’ll be a 3080 or 3080Ti in my future!

No.....................................................just...................................................no

So you completely disagree with the idea that if AMD brought out a card that beats the 2080ti, some people (like Nvidia fanboys) wouldn't find ways to complain? Of course some people would complain, saying things like "it's too late; Nvidia will be back on top soon" etc. How anyone could think that wouldn't happen is beyond me.

Would LOL again.

People already setting themselves up for disappointment, which will lead to yet more armchair management.
Every year.
Every year they build a bigger, more epic hype train. Every year they forget the bridge over the canyon isn't finished yet :p

Hilarity ensues.
