AMD Zen 3 (5000 Series), rumored 17% IPC gain.

How should we take those rumors then? Figuratively?

It is intentional, his intention is to generate views and clicks on his site.

Of course it is, he's a journalist, that's his bread and butter, he's not a charity.

The fact that he's generating clicks for his site doesn't make him someone to dismiss out of hand for that reason, if we did that we would have to apply that to all journalists, as tempting as i may find that these days..... he's also taking a risk, his bread and butter neck is on the line with his journalism, he's not stupid, if he gets it badly wrong his reputation will be in the toilet so he must have some confidence in what he's putting on his site.

And at the end of the day we should all understand these are rumours.

oh no, Adored rumors again
I thought he hanged himself after 5GHz 300$ Zen2 hype
Nope, he's still delivering what may or may be not be nonsense. Clockspeed in itself is hopefully irrelevant if 15-20% ipc gains at the same clocks materialise but given it's Jim who knows...

At this point vendors are competing with eachother to provide high quality Ryzen based Laptops, because they are finding that they are in demand, they are popular.

AMD are a juggernaut right now and Intel can't stop them......

This is the impression I got, they thought they could get them to boost single thread 5Ghz, its what they were designed for but the yields just didn't work out like that.
What was the basis for them imagining they could get them to boost to 5ghz? It seems like pure fantasy given we now have a mature (or much more mature) process and they're still well short of that target. Designing a chip and then 'deciding' you know what it will boost to doesn't seem rooted in the real World. I like the ambition but the execution was deeply flawed (if Jim is to believed). Not that it makes any difference given that latency not clock speed is what holds AMD back in gaming.

Mate a couple of people on here have 3600’s that can boost up to 4.6 ghz that’s a hell of a lot more than mine will manage but very close to that golden standard of 5.0 ghz. How do you know that Amd didn’t have working 5.0 ghz samples? I’d say it’s very possible they did but in no where near enough volume to risk shipping it.

Now the point is his “source” may very well have known or have been told we have working, reliable 5.0 GHz chips but that was possibly mistaken as Amd will be releasing 5.0 ghz chips.

It’s not that big of a deal we all wanted 5.0ghz but instead we got less does it really matter? No we’ve all got very capable chips that do pretty much everything we want for less money, power draw etc than its rival can offer but no 5.0 ghz Epeen.

The CPU space is great, unfortunately the Guy space not so much.

I’m sure I remember seeing the information and it wasn’t that far out. If it was it was luckily I’m smart enough not to bet my house against it.

More importantly I don’t think any of the information he got wrong was him lying or intentionally misleading he was just passing on the information he received. If you take it literally you will possibly end up disappointed so that’s on you.
How else are you supposed to take rumours if not literally? Figuratively? Metaphorically?

A rumour is either proven true or false. There is no "interpretation" when presented with a table of SKUs that AdoredTV is passing off as insider info :p

And no, they weren't even close. 12 cores at 5Ghz for <£300 did not happen. More's the pity.

I agree it really doesn't matter but it's almost a 10% shortfall for a lot of people which is pretty close to the discrepancy between having and not having the gaming crown from Intel (that's assuming a bump in clockspeed would translate into significantly higher gaming performance for Zen , which it doesn't). It also looks better on an advert and packaging when trying to sell something otherwise why would the notional vanishingly short lived boost clocks have been touted in the first place.

You take them with a pinch of salt. You remain hopeful that you are going to get what you want but not so much that your willing to stake you money on it.

If the rumour mill is not your thing then don’t entertain it would be my advice lol. I’m sure no one would have a problem with your silence :).

It’s not a shortfall it’s only a shortfall for those who took it very literally. What you got is what you got, if that wasn’t enough for you or another then you possibly brought the wrong cpu. That’s not Amd’s fault or AdoredTv, that’s your fault.

Any hoo we may never see 5.0 ghz Amd chips but if what your getting suits your needs and or is a better performer than its rivals it just really doesn’t matter.

When Jim said 5Ghz weirdly I took it literally. That's sort of how the English language works in this context. If someone says something the majority take them literally not figuratively or metaphorically unless in inverted commas or it's so patently nonsense e.g.**** a duck, otherwise Jim should have said 4.5ghz. I'm not knocking the performance but it seems weird to rewrite it as if what he said could be interpreted any other way??

Well you’ve now learned your lesson. Next time you won’t be disappointed :).

Maybe concentrate on your own posting before taking snipes at other posters, eh. I'd start by making sure you understand the words you are using. A dictionary would help there.

LOL

Todays pro tip.
I look forward to Intel's ARK sites and other product/SKU matrices having the notice "Not to be taken literally".

It'll make things quite fun, don't you think? "Is this literally 5GHz or is this a metaphor for the disappointment inherent in the human experience?"

LOL that's literally how Intel list chips now isn't it?

Lol at this crap, leaks are not 100% and if your in the leaking game your not likely to have a 100% correct inforate.

Now look at the latest stuff going on with the new APU's, some interesting numbers with overclocks and IF/ram frequency and this is still zen2(and a bit)
