No concrete date yet but it looks like the end of the year.

I will lay out what we do know from amd and what we think we now from leaks.

1) AMD will launch Zen 3, RDNA2, PS5 and Xbox Series X together at the same event, confirmed.

2) Multiple leaks tell us RDNA2 launch is In November

Ergo, Zen 3 launch is in November - as is all the next gen consoles

That would be a poor move. Review sites will be overwhelmed and lesser products won't get the coverage they deserve
Launching 5700XT and Zen 2 together was dumb. So who cares they are 7nm. Doesnt relaly mean they must launch together on 07.07

Instead should stagger these so that every week there is something new and exciting

Yeah. Drip feeding the market seems like the best way to maximise free advertisement and press.

But stagger what, exactly? AMD won't be announcing the consoles, I doubt more than 2 GPUs will be announced and I doubt more than 3 CPUs will be announced.

The Navi 2X stack will be rolled out over a few months as always, as will the top and bottom ends of the Ryzen 4000 stack.

Launching Navi and Ryzen 3000 at the same time was important. You may not case that everything was 7nm, but it's important to those paying attention to the overall computing landscape as it showed significant technological leadership from AMD.

They really need to launch the gpus first especially if Nvidia are launching in September.
Yer just saw that they are launching next month. Nvidia trying to get in first, if AMD bring a card or two that's better than the Nvidia equivalent then i guess Nvidia might (or not) drop prices slightly.. But knowing how things are currently it probably doesn't matter as they could be hard to get unless you get an order in early anyway.

Launching the 3XXX and 5XXX together was "important" but I feel it could have been better.

In the UK I don't think there was any price breaks for buying a 3XXX, X570 and 5700/XT together when there should have been for that whole "Here's our platform" type of deal.
And the 5700XT was only a so-so card considering the flip side where the 3900X was an absolute monster.

I obviously bought a 3900XT/X570 and 5700XT together regardless though.

So how many of you will upgrade a 3700x to a 4000 CPU?

I was thinking of skipping the 4000 range and waiting for what comes next. I.e DDR5 etc etc.

The 4000 series is the last of this generation.

Also it's not like there is any necessity to upgrade from a 3700x for gaming.

Then again I know my self. When the new chips arrive it will be hard to say no.

I probably would have upgraded from my 3700x. However I can't now because I have a X370 motherboard which won't support the 4000 series, and I'm not going to upgrade my motherboard just for 1 generation of CPU. The 3700x seems plenty quick enough for me though, so it's not such a big deal.

On one hand, 3700x is already a very good processors and it doesn't make sense to upgrade to next generation. Smallest possible jump.

On other hand, this is the least painful upgrade route, only swap CPU, keep everything the same.
With AM5, ddr5 you wiill pretty much need a whole system.
So for this example, 4000 being last of this generation is a good thing.

And if hype train gets to station mostly intact, 4000 series will be a beast of a cpu.

Not sure I’m not really using my pc much at the minute and to be honest the 3600 does what I need it too.

If gpu prices are silly I may not bother with it at all and just get a ps5. All my mates play on PlayStation anyway.

It was always my intention to get a 4000 series processor so I bought a temporary 2600 last year when they were going dirt cheap to tide me over.

I wouldn't have wanted to upgrade from a full price 3000 to a 4000 series.

Coming from a 2500k my plan is to go 8c/16t Zen3 ... but if they want a lot more than £200 for it will just find something else to do with my time.

(In before @jigger says they should be £400+ and worth every penny :p)
