Yeah but then combine it with the missing SKUs.

No 5600 non-X. No 5700X.

So not only do all the SKUs get a £50 increase, but the cheap/value for money SKUs are MIA. That's what we call a "double-whammy" mate.

Yea basically, still be best price/performance but now outright best for gaming, can't expect that and be the same price as last time. It just looks bad (is bad) because there's no 3600/3700x yet. Few bought the 3800x over 3700x, they will this time.
 
AMD understands that the $200 price bracket is the sweet spot. I don't think people will have to wait long for these CPU's to drop inbetween what has been announced.
 
I think its the cost they incured moving it to 1 CCX with 8 cores instead of 2 CCX with 4 cores. Doing that cuts a lot of the memory latency issues AMD had with their Zen 2 design

yeah it’s a $50 increase which isn’t bad. It looks worse as there is no 5700 or 3600 YET. There is clearly a big gap they can fill with those 2.

I must be honest, AMD held back today. It's clear that Zen 3 was designed to be just fast enough to claim the fastest gaming crown but held back everything else for Zen 4

I think where it hurts a little is that it's a flat 50...

For those buying eg a 5900X it's a 10% price step up over the 3900X launch price, for those looking at the 5600X it's a whopping 20%.

Given the lower end of the market is also the more price sensitive, it's a curious decision imo to apply a flat rate price bump.
 
I'll be honest, £450 is more than I wanted to spend. Between that and possibly a RTX 3070 that's over £1000 and I still need every other part for a fresh PC build. So my question is: How big of a an upgrade is the Ryzen 5 5600X (6 core) going to be over the 3600/3600x?

Yeah the 5800x still sucks as a SKU, now tho instead of looking bad next to a 5700X it looks bad next to a 5900X, lol.

It's a no-brainer to spend the extra £100 and get 4 more cores and a slightly better clock speed.

Possibly due to TSMC price increases - I think people expecting AMD to be disruptive on the GPU prices as well are going to be disappointed.
 
Now that I've had chance to think about this, am I right in saying -

For each CPU it's a 26% performance increase in gaming at 1080p

So 3600x Vs 5600x at 1080p is 26% faster?

Also to whoever mentioned the 5600x is £300 it's not, it's $300 so £230

I'm a bit disappointed that the 5700X is MIA because I was looking to upgrade from 6 to 8 cores this time round
