*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Are they running the stream on the ryzen system? :D Every time they kick off a test it lags out. Perfect otherwise :(.

I assume it was good given the reaction :).

yeah, 6900k no slouch. so its fairly clear that like-for-like it at least as quick as a 6900k.

In the benchmarks AMD has shown us, yes.

Can't take anything away from Handbrake as it's actually used.
But AMD was already good at Handbrake.

Cinebench is the benchmark of choice when it comes to that type of workload, not Blender.

I'm being too negative. You can't take anything away from what they've shown with Zen so far.

OK that Handbrake demo was more like the sort of info I want. Boost disabled 3.4ghz Ryzen processor vs Intel 6900k with boost enabled with the Ryzen processor beating the Intel at Handbrake 54 seconds to 59 seconds.

Would have been interesting to know the power at the wall being drawn not just the 95 vs 140w TDP although the implication is the processors could be more powerful per watt than Skylake. Need more information and benches.

If they can get the clock speeds right and this sort of performance holds out across the range then this could be a very very solid come back.
