*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Also interestingly a 7700k is £380 on that site, and £350 currently on OCUK with a current -2% reduction.
Yeah I was gonna say £320 sounds a bit high for the R7 1700 compared to the previous leaks. Could be that their prices just aren't that good or it's just another UK tax. >_>

Recently I purchased a CF791 Monitor from them, it was £100 cheaper than anywhere else at pre-order (which I got) then went up to the same price as other retailers including here at OCUK. Would be nice if these prices are too high and OCUK will be cheaper.

If these rumours are true what is going to happen with all those locked Core i5's? i would imagine Zen renders them pretty pointless and worthless.

To be fair i have never heard of them until today, i buy 99% of my stuff from here, i double check with roughly 4 other sites but 99% of the time OCUK are within a few quid of all other retailers, if its a bulk buy of a few components, i will do a basked in the various sites listing the same or equivalent parts and generally with free shipping OCUK beats all others, some pieces might be higher than another site but other pieces will be lower to balance it out :)

Unless Intel make them stupidly cheap, which I cant see.

If the broadwell level ipc is true, Intel are going to have to re-price their entire line up.

Part of me wonders whether Intel are thinking "oh...****" or just " well we had a good run being able to charge crazy prices. All good things must come to an end"

I mean they can still demand top money for their 10core chip but everything else will have to have massive price cuts. The 6900k price will look ridiculous for example.

Intel have been caught by the danglies pretty much, if the performance being leaked is reported to be anywhere near the truth, Intel can slash all they like, they will have upset a lot of people who suddenly see them for what they are, to be fair to Intel they have had no competition so they could keep putting up prices, but AMD is showing that you can potentially have comparable performance for much cheaper, and making Intel look bad in the process.

If Intel drop prices, they look bad for not doing so earlier as people question why they couldnt have done it when they purchased their cpu etc
If Intel Dont drop prices, they lose sales to people who would have bought their cpus but will gamble on getting more cores for their money

Most interesting to see will be how it affects Intels Halo CPU's like the 6950x and 6900 etc, if at all, cos tbh i think 6900 is now irrelevant at its current price, even at half its current price its going to find a hard sale.

I purchased my company items wherever to price is best. I do try to stick with OCUK where possible, I like the haribos! Some E-tailers only cater for business's and not personal purchases, these tend to have the leaks or are rubbish with NDA! :D

I think Intel will try to ride it out and hope they can get the next lot of chips out by Q4 this year. And then hope AMD don't have a response to that.

Intel will still sell even with Ryzen here, most of the customers have no clue about performance, power, etc. They simply just buy something to work with barely knowing how to turn it on, visit an ageing local authority office, you will be amazed. Intel is the big daddy and name in the industry.

AMD will gain market share back but not the majority. As long as I can get high performance at a cheaper price point, I will be happy.

Agree yes does show the true colours of Intel but we have been here before a few times in the past ...thank the gods for AMD

Ahh yeah im in the same boat kinda, i do our buying for our site in the South East, our Client Hardware is all Dell due to corporate agreement, our mobile is all O2 again due to corporate agreements, Routers / Switches etc all Cisco, but outside of that i have multiple vendors i use to purchase peripherals and other IT needs. This week i bought some WePresent Wireless Presentation gear and some 65" 4K TV's to put up in our projects office, i should check the vendor sites to see if they are listing anything, i often get deals on stuff that includes freebies which generally i make use of onsite somewhere, was offered a 480 recently but tbh there was no where i could put it and i have a 1070 so it was no use really.

Next project is going to be roughly 20 LG 55MC screens, 4 C-Touch Laster Air+ 84" Screens with internal i5 pc's and some Barco kit, i also need to build a new CAD workstation so i might see about just buying in parts and putting it together, although the boss will probably just tell me to buy another Dell XPS box with a 1080 in it lol.

When im back in Thursday i will check over the vendor sites to see if they are stocking any Ryzen hardware, will have a chat with a couple of them too for Motherboard news as thats really sparse right now.

Good point, the masses are ignorant, Intel will flog them the dead horses and the ignorant will gladly pay through the nose for them, Yes Intel will still win and by a long way.

Will be interesting to see if any big OEM's pick up Ryzen chips, they are decent TDP, offer decent performance, more cores, good chance that you will start seeing them in machines i reckon.

I have just sent a few emails to vendors requesting stocking dates haha, might be able to sneak an early one out!
