Not entirely true, the R7 1700 is around for less than £300, and the 1700X for only £330, it was only initial demand keeping them high.

Just caved and purchased a 1700, couldn't resist the price delivered. Now I'm looking for an Asrock X370 Gaming K4 AMD X370 (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard. Was waiting for 1600/(X) but price too good. Disappointed couldn't purchase from Ocuk. Cpu coming tomorrow, have ordered the Asrock X370 Gaming K4.

If the 1600 can hit similar clockspeeds to the 1600X,it looks better value than the 1600X as it will have the same stock cooler as the 1700,but after watching the DF video it should also mean at similar clockspeeds it won't be much slower than an R7 either.
The 1700X and 1700 clock the same (based on SL's numbers) so it's a pretty safe bet that the 1600 and 1600X will also clock the same. The 1800X can clock 100 MHz higher on average compared to the 1700X and 1700.

Got to laugh, just tried to pre order the Asrock X370 Gaming K4 and my credit card company knocked it back for security issues. This is after they let me order a cpu for nearly twice the price 20 min ago. They told me to try again shortly and it will be ok. Doh!

Anyone else with a 1700 and a C6H not able to set memory to 3200 at any timings?

This is with G.Skill 3200C14 Trident Z RAM.

Looks like I may have lost the lottery on the IMC. I just get code F9 followed by a reboot...
Have you tried 18-16-16-36? they work for many people.

Which BIOS?
2x8GB? What voltages?
Set DRAM voltage to 1.35v
Set DRAM Boot voltage to 1.35v-1.40v
Set SOC to 1.1v

if i was to buy Ryzen again i would buy 1700 over 1700x. Not only You get spare cooler but save 45 quid towards faster memory and thats where extra performance is :) I bet it will be same case with 1600/1600x

Which BIOS are you using? 1001 gave me excellent results with Hynix, not sure if it's improved anything for Samsung.
Also, you are using slot A2 and B2 yes?
Wyth my Hynix its not booting up at 29xx setting in my case. New amd code sent to mb guys so new bioses inc. I hope they will have option to change Command Rate timing witrout flashing bioses back and forth :p

Hmm, may be a weaker IMC then as you said. Though to be honest, you'll probably have better luck with future BIOS revisions.
I'm running 3200 14,15,15,34,1T with Corsair Hynix at the moment on 1001. Previous BIOS i couldn't get higher than 2666.
