AMD Zen3 event thread

Excited isnt even the word! Might need to leave work a bit early to catch everything :p

I'm hoping for a 4900X 12c or 16c that has the same power requirements and heat output as my 3700X so that in *an amount of time* I have a drop in upgrade. This might be wishful thinking...

I know it's corporate speak and branding etc but does anyone actually find setting up these sorts of events "fun"? The few times I've done it (at a much smaller scale) it's been a pain in the bum

It's going to be 5*** Series not 4***. That's already been confirmed.

Wonder if they will take the gaming crown this time?

No. I don't mean trade blows or comes close.

Now it will be Intel fans who will be saying "advantage at 1080p doesn't matter, who plays 3090 at 1080p? at 4k it is almost equal"

I was amazed 1080p is still the most used according to steam.

That surprised me as well, considering how well some of the older cards run 1440p even now (980Ti for example), and even the 1070 in some cases.
I guess that fast refresh at 1080p is what people are looking for.

You have to remember that this forum is biased towards enthusiasts - the vast majority of steam gamers don't buy high end.

4 of the current top 5 video cards by % share are low/mid range parts (GTX1060/1050Ti/1050/1650) - only 1 is a higher end part (GTX1070)

Edit:
Similarly Quad core CPUs are still dominant at 45.69%, and 16.3% still use Dual cores

Annoyingly booked someone to come in to quote me for something at 5pm, so will miss it...not that I expect anything to go on sale immediately but, as already said...HYPE.

I game at UHD not 4K.

I will be going to either a ATX or E-ATX from a mATX soon.
So if AMD beats Intel that would be great for me.

Looking forward to this. I expect they'll be out of my budget, but current prices will drop allowing me to get something better. A 3900x for 3700x price will do me.
