What if Zen 3 only reaches parity with cometlake in gaming and loses in edge case like farcry 5, is that a disappointment? to me it is.
The 8 core should be decently faster than the 9900k otherwise it will be disappointing considering it is 2 years oldPlease smoke my 9900k handily so I have a reason to upgrade.
And stuck on an ancient process and is just yet another refresh of an ancient architecture. The 8 core should be decently faster than the 9900k otherwise it will be disappointing considering it is 2 years old
Ha, I am already double booked for *two* Zoom meetings with work at 5pm, no chance of watching live.Annoyingly booked someone to come in to quote me for something at 5pm, so will miss it...not that I expect anything to go on sale immediately but, as already said...HYPE.
Well we already know that the 5900x has 25% higher single core performance than the 3900x.
Let's look at Intel vs AMD in far cry 5

Now add 25% to AMD's number and voila, AMD = fastest gaming CPU in the world
Yes, because you just described Skylake and it's 10,000 derivativesGot to laugh at people saying it's not good enough unless it beats stuff in games. What if it was 150% better in games but utter garbage at everything else, would that be ok as well?

Will be watching with interest, but I’m afraid I’ve already made my mind up. I dropped £780 on a 3900X and X570 board last year and have just dropped another £750 on a 3080. Seeing as it’s the last AM4 CPU, it’s just not gonna be worth the upgrade for me. May be if it was 40-50% faster, but in reality, you’ll be lucky if it’s an extra 20% faster in real world applications.
