AMD Zen3 event thread

Pricing sucks!!

It's just you and me I'm afraid.

Everybody else is happy with £400 for the cheapest 8c. The only 8c.

FFS. Ah well. I don't have to buy it :p

AMD cpus finally back at the top. nice to see. now hopefully there is plenty of stock and little gouging from retailers.

Bit expensive, the guy even said in the presentation that they were cheap to make and they put prices up
And yet when Nvidia and intel do it everyone says "well done great" and AMD consistently bring both Nvidia and intel back in line so ya all can shut the F up and suck on it, AMD cant win apparently so sure hike the price imo. *mic drop

I don't know a lot, but they were measuring the 5950X against 10900K and showing some fairly modest victories. The 10900K is GBP 559 and they just said the 5950X will be USD 799 so GBP 750 at best. That's not exactly good value then?

Errmm not impressed TBH from what I see.
maybe 6-8% faster for gaming than a 10900, at 200 dollars more.
Add to that a mobo and I'll take an i9 9900 update my bios save aprox 400 notes over a zen 3 plus mobo and only be 8% behind at worst.

I don't know what I am missing but it doesn't sound like the revolution I was hoping for.

i would suspect its because most programs are coded woefully and dont take advantage of more cores yet

The pricing is taking the pee a bit but I guess it's early adopters tax and will come down a bit when the rush has passed.

The cheaper 5900 also beats it handidly, they were just showing you that it also ROFLSTOMPS the Intel offerings in Content workloads aswell as gaming, basically saying its the elite tier best CPU you can buy for any workload.
