3D feels bit like a cool gimmick to me! I can remember when seeing people playing with 3d and thought it must be soo cool and immersive so though gotta get in on that. So i did and to be genuinely honest it was cool at first and i thought it was amazing, however it did become quite boring quick. This was because, i cant game with 3d for too long as it gives me headaches or makes my eyes hurt to point im rubbing them. Same for movies i cant watch a full film in 3d, just about manage it at the cinemas.

And now i can't remember the last time i banged on my 3d glasses. Feels like a waste of money. Was cool to try but wish i didnt bother now!

For games with native 3d support you do not require tridef.
All you need is a hdtv or compatible monitor then select the mode that your monitor supports in the game menu. I think crysis 2 and possibly bf3 had this?

Amd do not offer any solution for converting non 3d games into 3d format so tridef is used in that case. This slso allows for different modes of 3d to be used other than hdmi(hd3d) such as 120hz etc

AMDs 3d is through hdmi not sure if displayport works.
Amd basicly do 3d the same way bluray players, skybox(although its only sidebyside)and ps3 while nvidia done their own thing.

If your really into 3d then nvidia is the way to go.

I have done a really bad job of explaining that lol

I have an lg passive 3d monitor that works with my ps3 and pc for 3d. A version of tridef comes free with it. I do not use it anymore though as the novelty has gone. I seen the hobbit in 3d recently and it ****ed me off. You loose detail in the picture and have to wear funky glasses

There's like a handful of games with native 3D, it's almost not worth bringing up :p.

And you don't need to use HDMI for AMD, I used Dual Link DVI. The AMD 3D is pretty much just some irrelevant name as far as it stands.

In Tridef, you'd just use generic 120HZ direct stereo 3D (Or whatever generic 3D is for your screen)

My last Plasma TV supported 3D via HDMi/DVI (AMD 290x) and my replacement Panasonic AX802b even does 1080p @ 60hz over DisplayPort (295x2)

HDMI 1.4 was limited to 720p @ 60hz or 1080p @ 24hz.

had a play about with for a while, used 7970 xfire and a samsung s27a750d, the tridef software and glasses came with the monitor, worked ok and with tomb raider i only had to select 3d in the game menu, and if i rember right doom bfg edition also had a 3d mode but was side by side
