American Airlines CRJ700 crash in DC

I think it's probably both but at the highest levels , 100% profit driven and a nepotistic joke.

The world should be a meritocracy at all levels. Doesn't matter about race, gender, age etc.

Trump blames DEI for a helicopter crashing into a plane with his only supporting evidence being, and I quote him verbatim, "common sense".

Trump wants to make America great again; back to when they had a meritocratic system from the last couple centuries.... oh wait.

What you and others are probably failing to see is that diversity, equity and inclusion is still a meritocracy! It is a meritocracy where even if your skin is not white, or your gender male or your preference hetero etc you will still be judged purely on your ability to fulfill that role.

It has never been about having a starting advantage over WASPs (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) but that is the twisted narrative that has been propagated seemingly by folks that still have a chip on their shoulder that America, with its proud history, allowed itself to have a black President.

Anyway, some Democrats were wrong to put the blame on Trump for this terrible air disaster so soon even if he did fire a bunch of people (loosely) related to this industry, but as President of the USA, his press briefing after the accident was frankly atrocious.

As a Republican friend of mine just said, "if you think that was bad, you're in for a surprise for the next few years..."

Update here quite a lot of things but one being the helicopter was flying 100ft higher then it should have been, it's on designated path of 200 ft maximum.

Also lights of planes reportedly blend in with the cityscape here mentioned by other pilots.

ATC requested to change to runway landing setting up this crash.

He mentions quite a few other things aswell, end of the day this was a disaster waiting to happen.
