American Beer

I like the High Roller Gold from the 777 Brew pub

there are loads of small breweres turning good stuff out

Theres a few good ales in american but they're local ones, you can't really get them over here.
American beer is generally horrible, chemically, watery, tasteless, gassy, rubbish.
Some of them you drink them and can't tell the difference between it and sparkling water.

Sierra Nevada is pretty good IMO.

You will find superior beers from pretty much any other country though.

You'll notice those weren't suggested in this thread... *edit* ok some were...not sure why as yes they are terrible.

I explained why in my post, they're there for completeness and that you can get them easily, not because they taste especially nice. However other people will doubtless like them and since jp_bl_68 didn't mention that he'd tried them it seemed worth pointing them out.

Sam Adams and Michelob would be my suggestions for beers that you can actually get relatively easily and don't taste bad - I'd still prefer a great many beers over them but they are at least decent.

You can get Sierra Nevada from Tesco's (They normally stock the Pale Ale as well as one of the seasonal beer as well). As well as Anchor Steam.

Tesco have started stocking a brand called Flying Dog which is decent as well.

I had a few when i was over there and thought they were very nice. Michelob, amber bock and samuel adams were the best i tasted.
