American Soldiers Captured?

US officials told Sky News the dead soldiers had bullet holes in their head.

Sounds like they were used to get what info that could, then executed in cold blood.

I'm speachless . . .

They are believed to be members of the 507 Maintenance unit. They would have been following in the wake of 3ID, but as there is no front line it looks like they got taken by surprise by Iraqi forces and killed or captured

Well if the US and UK troops are indeed going to go in on foot into Baghdad then I think we'll see a lot more of this, IMO we are making a big mistake going in on foot so early and fast :(

If you get shot in the head then you're more likely to die. Being shot in the head dosen't mean you were executed. If you're going to execute cold blood style (after the fighting has dies down) you don't leave witnesses.

They may have got lost, or got too far infront.

These captured soldiers are from the Maintence wing of the Marines, so they would have been at the back of the Convoy. However as the Convoy is speeding across the Desert they are not clearing the towns along the way out as they go. Their aim is to avoid conflict and get to Bagdad. Iraqis could have easily come from behind them.

The captured people were a maintainence crew. They were fired upon and returned fire as I understand it. There are reports that the dead had headshots, indicating execution BUT let's not jump to conclusions.

Yeah, last week our media was going on about how this was going to be a massacre... the biggest military mismatch in history... $400bn annual budget vs $1.4bn etc... sounds like things aren't going quite to plan.

I guess the US and UK have the problem of needing to minimize casualties so they can't bomb with impunity but even so just the ground battle doesn't seem to be the walk over it was predicted to be.
