Bungee, you seem to know more about the operation than people who were there, like Chris Ryan and Peter Ratcliffe.

I do? What gave you that idea? I could say the same about you - you seem to be the world expert ;)

Well, there is actually one acount of the "Bravo two zero" escapade that claims they didnt actually kill anybody.

Wow really? How several of them get killed by the enemy then?

Anyway - this has nothing to do with this thread, so I suggest we talk about that instead.

It is very premature to assume they have been executed so soon. The propaganda machine is working heavily on both sides here.

Would that be the world peacekeeping US army that holds so true to the Geneva convention.
The incident is being investigated. Remind me when did al-Qaida give the victems of 9/11 due process before killing them.

Not saying they didn't deserve it, just that America aren't flawless in their treatment of prisoners. Descending to their level and all that....

Most of these people haven't been charged with having any connection to AL-Qaida, and even if they had as prisoners of war they have the rights of the Geneva convention, which these prisoners clearly don't.

As I mentioned in another thread, if you're going to go on live tv and preach the Geneva convention then you can't have such skeletons. Particularly when you're the US whom don't allow their citizens to be tried for war crimes. Smells very much like hypocrisy.

Who says they are prisoners of war? Who says that the Geneva Convention which al-Quaid haven't signed applies to there members?

Still lots of western media that haven't realsied that they're not supposed to be showing POWs even though in their articles its says it may be against the Geneva Convention. Wonder when the penny will drop.

US citizens alledged to have participated in war crimes can be prosecuted under US law. The US didnot sign up to the recent treaty cos they felt that would expose thier troops and leaders to nuisance law suits. Iraq is a signatory to the convention as is the US so both sides shouldobey its tennants. The coalition is.

Some US media knew from the start. Sky News just interviewed a QC who told them they were breaking the law :p

In a word, or two; Henry Kissinger.

Why aren't camp x-ray prisoners being prosecuted under US law then? whichever way you look at it, the US detention is illegal.

I think this explains it better, the American government said the
attack on 9/11 was an act of war so maybe anybody held in connection with this act are in fact prisoners of war http://www.counterpunch.org/waite1.html .
The point is human rights have been abused, so it is a little rich for the US to be harping on about geneva convention breaches when they themselves are not clean on this issue. War is a messy thing.
