These captured soldiers are from the Maintence wing of the Marines, so they would have been at the back of the Convoy. However as the Convoy is speeding across the Desert they are not clearing the towns along the way out as they go. Their aim is to avoid conflict and get to Bagdad. Iraqis could have easily come from behind them.

That sucks but they knew the risks when they joined up. Those Iraqis are scum.
People said the war would only take a few days.....
THe military never claimed it would be a walkover but 50,000 combat troops have accomplished one of the fastests offensive drives in History, neutralising significant enemy forces. All this without resorting to tactics that would have resulted in the killing of large numbers of Iraqi civiliansOriginally posted by clv101
Yeah, last week our media was going on about how this was going to be a massacre... the biggest military mismatch in history... $400bn annual budget vs $1.4bn etc... sounds like things aren't going quite to plan.
I guess the US and UK have the problem of needing to minimize casualties so they can't bomb with impunity but even so just the ground battle doesn't seem to be the walk over it was predicted to be.

If Saddam is as extreme as you say that would be a very good tactic.
But we're getting a little premature here. US dead and US captured is the same as Iraqi dead and Iraqi captured.

I am in total and udder shock. It is one thing to take prisoners but something completly different to torture and execute them
Originally posted by Custor
When did torture and execution come in? Not you standard pro and anti stuff guys. When the Iraqis are KIA no one for one moment says execution no says torture.
When the US/Uk troops are KIA no one says execution.
Us/UK troops on film dead - execution?
