I'm just trying to play devil's advocate and bring some balance to the discussion.. I don't know what happened to the dead soldiers or what will happen to the prisoners.

It would have only taken a few days if we were to fight them in a conventional way i.e. crushing the opposition before going in.

Instead the soilders have to second guess before they fire because of humanitarian reasons :confused:

Although I agree that we should keep the civilian numbers down that are killed it is plain to see that a LOT of civilians within Iraq do intend to fight, this will put our troops in severe unecessary danger if we cannot fight properly IMO.

:( I see a lot of body bags coming back :(

I guess the US and UK have the problem of needing to minimize casualties so they can't bomb with impunity but even so just the ground battle doesn't seem to be the walk over it was predicted to be.

THe military never claimed it would be a walkover but 50,000 combat troops have accomplished one of the fastests offensive drives in History, neutralising significant enemy forces. All this without resorting to tactics that would have resulted in the killing of large numbers of Iraqi civilians

The war is only in it's 4th day. The 1st day only saw action when they tried to kill Saddam. In 3 days they're only 100 miles from Baghdad. Pretty good going, I'd say.
 
Just heard a report confirming that the captured soldiers took a wrong turn and were then surrounded and overwhelmed by Iraqi troops.
 
You would think that the iraqi soldiers woukld realise that any mistreatment of POW's would result in massive repercusions from US soldiers, they will massacre anything in their sight if those soldiers are tortured or executed.
 
If Saddam is as extreme as you say that would be a very good tactic.

But we're getting a little premature here. US dead and US captured is the same as Iraqi dead and Iraqi captured.

:confused: When did torture and execution come in? Not you standard pro and anti stuff guys. When the Iraqis are KIA no one for one moment says execution no says torture.

Who's sayig anyone is executed? Head wounds? People die when shot in the head. being shot in teh head dose not mean automatic execution. If four people with only 1 wound and powder burns on the back of their head = execution.

What was it 4 out of 5 with bullet holes in thier head. COME ON!!!! No one is THAT good!
 
Please remember a very harsh fact. This is a war, and there will be casualties on both sides. :(
It's not nice, but it's not really avoidable either. I can't see any reason for people saying "oh this war is a big mess now etc etc" over the death of a handful of soldiers.
