Amiga demos (old skool)

Ain't watched it all but knew Jesus on E's would be one and i'm guessing 9 Fingers will be one......Shall wait and see :D

/edit - thought you meant it was 3 videos in one....It's just Jesus on E's .....OH well :D

The other one was BudBrain (which is also on Google Video) but I can't link to it direct due to some of the content :)

I could never grasp how they managed 26 mins of music and effects on 2 floppys when Jesus on E's first showed up.....9 Fingers for it's video footage too.....Amazed me back in the day my Amiga could do it

Not a fan of that one tbh.

My favourite Amiga demos were usually the ones with great music, great coding., or both. Sanity's Arte, and RSI's Cebit '90 immediately springs to mind.

If it's got music by either Moby, Jester, Romeo Knight or Jogeir Liljedah, it was probably good.

ive owned whole series of amigas

and i used to love watching these demos

and tbh u CANNOT beat worms on the amiga. was pure quality

when i had an amiga 1200 maxed out with harddrives and faster cards etc

it was quite a computer

and the f1 games owned on it aswell :)

come on guys,

IT BEGAN IN AFRICA is where its at :D used to love that!!!

these are bring back some memories, gettin some funny looks from the missus lol

Man, this has taken me back a few years :>

A few of the names mentioned above ring a bell, good times. I was quite into 'the scene' as it was called back in the day, with on disk magazines (Grapevine being the only one I can remember) I met some great people, without the internet <shock horror> via the mags. Ph33r my ASCII animation on my disks I posted around the country, (sellotape over the stamps to make them re-usable :> (who'd have thought Id end up working for Royal Mail))

The one demo thats stands out in my mind was 'Big Time Sensuality', the tune being of the same name, by Bjork.

Those were the days!

I had a clothes drawer full of these, hundreds of them. Sold them all for a hundred to a guy in norway a couple of years back.
Oldest of the old school would be something like Coma.

One of the best was 'Oddessy' I think it was, 6 disks. Basically a half hour animation movie with full soundtrack, so impressive for such a basic old machine.

They still make these kind of things for pc :)

wow those demos bring me back to the day, I still have a 600 a 1200 and a boxed 1200 magic pack with a 68030 card in it, loads of games will have to hook it up one day. My fav game was Wizkid.

Im a big fan of the DemoScene, the recent Assembly 2006 winner is very impressive

Slightly modded Amiga but just goes to show that the Amiga was way ahead of its time.

Keep an eye on http://www.demodvd.org/ they are going to make a DVD set with Amiga demos.

Pretty impressive stuff, the fact that it was done with a 68060 and not a G3 or G4 equiped Amiga makes it even more impressive.

Excellent thread, brings back fond memories of getting paded envelopes in the post stuffed with disks and sitting in front of my amiga for hours trying them all out.

And of course i used the sellotape technique as well ;)
