Well Real Madrid, Bayern, Barca all manage it.

So they do, I wasn’t aware of it as I don’t really have much interest in the machinations of foreign teams. Seems to be a more continental model that’s being increasingly adopted here.

It's slightly odd on the face of it, and we need more than vibes, but it worked very well last time.

I've maintained for a while now that Amorim has been making the team worse, not better. Ole would just need a small improvement and then we might be in contention for the Champions League places.

No guarantees though of course...

It was nice on the eye when it worked.

The fanbase is vulnerable and the comforting notion of Ole returning seems to resonate well. I love Ole. As a player he was incredible. His United goals reel on Youtube is amazing. Even moreso when you consider how he battled Cole, Yorke, Sheringham for a start. His time as manager was relatively successful but part of that is because we have fallen so far with ten Hag and Amorim. He had a decent team around him with McKenna and Carrick ( forgetting shorts Phelan) and his initial run before getting the role was incredible. Particularly away from home.

However, the team began to unravel and the egos were out of control. Don't forget when Rangnick arrived what his assessment was - he tried to get a team to press out of possession and they wouldn't do it. Then ten Hag spent 18 months trying to get them to do it. Amorim has also spent 14 months trying to do it and only recently have we seen the fight and application required. We were progressively falling behind every other team in the basics that allowed the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton, Palace, Brentford (all tiny clubs) to hand out lessons to United.

Vibes is fine but not if you want to challenge at the elite end. Ole is lovely human. He's steely but can he be an ******** when required? his managerial record is not that great. The bombsquad was forming while he was in charge and it took 3 years to deal with it. You can argue that a short term lift is all that is required, perhaps to secure a European spot but I worry that vibes lets some of these players off the hook and makes the job harder for the next permanent appointment.

My thoughts exactly.

Love the guy and his commitment to the club but don’t feel it will help us in the long run and may do more harm than good and interim managers never work for such long periods. And this time round as I mentioned earlier, he doesn’t have McKenna or Carrick around him to do the actual coaching.

Personally would rather they had Fletcher for a couple of extra games while actually getting their first choice manager in (ideal world).

I hear what you are saying but I don't feel like we have that group of players any more. The ones that thought they had made it once they got to United or hit the first time. Who had smoke blown up their arses for a few good performances. I can't see us getting any manager that we would want long term at this point in the season so I don't see him as a bad option.

Who would that be though? In the summer you can start to think about turning heads from some of the sides with good managers you want. At this point in the season? Very very unlikely.

Iraola or Glasner could probably be pinched early. Believe they both have their contracts up in the summer anyway. But as I say, it was definitely ‘ideal world’.

Or, Ole could turn out to the the second coming of baby Jesus (Ferguson) and I’m proven wrong and all is well in the world! :D

I think you could argue it's best to wait even if we could get someone like Glasner or Iraola now. Although the World Cup won't help, having a preseason and getting a couple of decent midfielders in could make a world of difference. We'd be able to potentially start strongly rather than having a wobbly few months with lots of unnecessary scrutiny. I actually do think we have a fairly decent set of players now and it's nothing like the old days of Pogba and Martial.

The obvious issue with Ole being caretaker again is that ideally, we need Carrick and Fletcher alongside him to run the coaching side of things. Regardless, I think all of them will focus on playing to the strengths of the players, rather than shoehorning them into a messy system like Amorim has been doing.

If it was me in charge I'd be putting Ole in until the end of the season on a fixed term contract. Get the fans onside and bring a bit of feelgood to the club. That middle pack of teams in the league are separated by only 3 points after half the games played. A side can go 5th or 12th between now and the weekend alone. Theres not much between them and any of them could end up snatching 5th. Presuming England get a 5th CL spot then to a club like Man Utd you may as well finish 12th as finish 6th.
Come the summer there are a few managers available that won't need 10 mil to prise from their current jobs. I think Iraola will be the one but it makes zero sense to get him now and thrust him straight in with no preparation, he'll likely lose his first couple of games and you'll be right back where you were when Amorim took over and he'll be chasing his tail looking for results while the press hound him.

You heard it here first MUFC brothers, the big lad in town once Brasil lift the world cup.
