An enjoyable outing!

Can the discussion of other accounts please be left alone now? This is the second time of asking.

If anyone wishes to speak to a mod about something they are free to do so.

Who wouldn't want to be like Fox. A wealth of knowledge with a mastermind speciality in BMWs, great financial knowledge and probably the readies to match, drives a 335i and has a girl on his arm :o

Legend!

Ccccringe :(

Can someone run me up to speed on this elite thing? Who is part of it? How do I join? Do we get a free tax disc holder and keyring?

Lucero posts a fair bit in the Mobile Phone forum as well, never caueses a single problem and is really helpful

I don't understand why DRZ has such a strong agenda. Fine he has numerous accounts, but he has clearly proved he isn't the same as he was from 6 years ago!

Discretion can be applied

/thread.

Cool, it's like the time when I realised Joshy is Broadband.

Minor though, they contribute and all is well.

Get over it.

wow, this whole thread is cringe worthy

This whole thread is embarrassing to OcUK Motors to be honest.

With threads like this no wonder car enthusiasts get the stereotype of being utterly boring, socially inept losers. :(

With threads like this no wonder people who are interested in cars get a name of being utterly boring, socially inept losers. :(

I'm going to have to presume that you are aiming that at me, and tbh if it is then you should say so, so it can become a personal attack and be dealt with.

It seems to me that I've been to way more social events organised on or around the OcUK forums and their splinter forums than you have. Had some great times, made some great friends who I regularly see. I suspect you'd rather call people socially inept from your darkened room rather than participate in the community?

Obviously I cannot say what your social calendar is like outside of the highly visible meets here but I can hazard a guess ;)

Actually it was aimed a few people who have posted in this thread - but nice self esteem. :)

Unless you can prove that it was aimed at a specific person - good luck with that :)

I see. Your diary must be so full of interesting and social events that you spend hours on the internet stalking someone - who, quite frankly, hasn't done anything to spark this little crusade against him, as far as i can see?

I suspect you'd rather call people socially inept from your darkened room rather than participate in the community?

Quick! Pretend everyone is like you and gets off on online stalking and hopefully no one will remember that you cyber stalked someone for hours last night and then came on here trying to look like a hero of OcUK Motors - only to find that most people thought it was one hell of a sad thing to do.

Hint: If people on a computer based forum think it's sad - it probably is.

Obviously I cannot say what your social calendar is like outside of the highly visible meets here but I can hazard a guess ;)

Ha! Guess away. Actually my social calendar is a busy one. Tonight i'm hoping to launch an online investigation into a member of OcUK Motors.

See - told you i was cool.

It didn't take hours and I didn't do much of the digging :p Like I said, I am a spokesman :)

Did you read the OP, or did you not remember the Oracle/Salvatore accounts? He even himself admits it all. How is that doing nothing?

I don't have a self esteem issue as you suggest, but obviously your post was aimed where it was aimed but you know you can't say it ;)

You're yet another keyboard warrior. When you start showing up to meets then I might just start taking you seriously.

EDIT: Just checked back and we seem to have gone from having some tenuous links to having stuff but deciding not to post personal information in under 40 minutes. All whilst sat outside chilling with a G&T!

I'd like to offer my thoughts on the outing of Lucero.

Having joined in 2004 I still consider myself a relatively new member of OcUK. The 'nuke' is something I have heard about but did not experience first-hand. This week will mark my 7th anniversary on these forums. In that time I have certainly posted my fair share of junk, but have also hopefully imparted my fair share of useful knowledge and given my fair share of good advice.

I’d like to think that a relatively consistent theme across those 7 years is one of broad honesty where possible. I’ve certainly never intended to deceive anyone, and have probably been a little bit too honest or open about certain events or opinions.

I think this thread, and many others, are evidence that there is a certain something about flagrant, unrelenting dishonesty on the Internet that riles people. I think the very fact that it’s so easy to be dishonest causes somewhat of a plague of dishonesty. For example, I can register a new account today, post pictures of a supercar and claim it is my own. There’s very little that can be done to prove otherwise… or is there?

The reason I mentioned by 7 year tenure on OcUK is that OcUK is somewhere where dishonesty has, historically, been sniffed out. There’s a long record of bogus claims and backlash from armchair investigators who, by the power of their curious minds, have ‘outed’ dozens of dishonest posters. There’s also a long record of absolutely uncompromising barrages of ridicule being launched against people. Sometimes deservedly, other times not. OcUK is sometimes a cruel and immature place.

What we see in this thread is a continuation of the age-old shining of light on oddities purported by OcUK members. This time, the person on the receiving end is less deserving of the subsequent ridicule than usual. This is abnormal because that member has shown himself to be reasonably upstanding since and hasn’t tried to deny any of these claims, although that would have been almost impossible in the face of the ‘evidence’ that had been collected.

Very few people have successfully returned to these forums, as the phrase “a leopard cannot change its spots” often and unfortunately rings true. However, the purpose of the outing remains: to clear the air, to make things of interest known, and to ensure that a certain member isn’t afforded an opportunity to erase the ghosts of his Internet past - an opportunity that the rest of us do not have.

I think that Lucero is glad that these little gremlins have been let out of the closet. Even in the weird, geeky virtual world of OcUK the past still haunts and acts as a weight on one’s shoulders.

In this case I think it would be a bad decision for the no-returnee rule to be considered inflexible, absolute and then subsequently enforced against Lucero. There are many members far more arrogant and impetuous that are welcomed, if not tolerated, and other members who are blatant returnees that continue to post. This IS probably a good time to enact the ‘Gibbo Loophole’.

Whatever reasons, genuine or otherwise, may have been behind the web of deceit spun over the last decade by Lucero, I think this thread has demonstrated that they have been acknowledged as silly, put down to experience, and now things can move on with no secrets or false pretences.

Similarly, you needn’t all hate on Martin – he was not the driver behind this and did not spend the hours you are all suggesting he did ‘cyberstalking’. It took around an hour from the idea to the submission of the opening post. I’ve probably spent more than an hour in one nose-picking session before now.

Muchhh better... :)

Did you read the OP, or did you not remember the Oracle/Salvatore accounts? He even himself admits it all. How is that doing nothing?

Because i...i just don't care? It's not like a MikeHiow witch hunt - because they were funny, MikeHiow used to post 10x more, be 10x more controversial and deliberately say things to try and cause an argument. Hence - made himself a target. As far as i can see - you're talking about things Lucero was saying five years ago!

You're yet another keyboard warrior. When you start showing up to meets then I might just start taking you seriously.

A) I have been to 2 meets and the VXR trackday that got OcUK'd and met most of the usual Motors lot a few times.

B) I really really couldn't care less if you take me seriously or not.

C) Keyboard warrior? :p I must admit, that is the first time i've ever been referred to as a keyboard warrior.
