Anal car drivers

Pretty sure you have right of way since you are already there.

As you say, it makes sense to back off from idiots like this because you're only going to either get mad yourself or get the other person mad, which can have pretty unexpected consequences.

I have had this while trying to thread a Transit through the City Of London where the streets are pretty damn narrow. Had some derp in one of those pathetic G-Wiz things demand I reverse in a similar position, I was getting pretty irate and just took the keys out of the ignition and just got out of the van until the idiot reversed a whole 1m whereas I would have had to reverse all the way back down the road.

I thought (maybe its only for "main roads") but cars had to park 30ft away from junctions to exactly avoid this sort of situation.

The other driver is still a tool. See it all the time in London though, blame the narrow roads and people parking on both sides of the road.

Would certainly take the opportunity to roll up a cig and change track on the ipod. I'm sure by the time I was done he'd get the idea I wasn't gonna budge :D

He went for the peacful less stressful route. Sometimes its just not worth the hassle surely we have enough in our lives without adding to it for the sake of 30 second reverse.

Because thats the London mentality when driving around in the city....you have to be just as aggressive as them or you wont last a day:p.

Something similar happened to me a year or so ago in Glasgow. Guy in a Range Rover did exactly the same and wasn't for budging. When it became apparent that he was definitely not going to reverse as anyone with an ounce of common sense would have done, I turned off the ignition, got out, locked the car and walked off. Did a bit of window shopping. I kept in full view of the car just in case someone else drove down the road behind me and got blocked in, but this didn't happen. Otherwise I would have got back in the car of course.

This as you can imagine, annoyed him even more but eventually he slammed his Rangey into reverse and bogged off ranting and raving.

Get that happening all the time when you're driving a bus.
Quite amusing because nobody will let you out before they turn into the junction but because you have 36ft of bus behind you in a narrow street they turn in one after another and then realise they can't go anywhere.
Usually ends up with the entire junction being blocked up and it being my fault :D

Ricochet_J was at give way lines. He was also half way on the other side of the road.
That said, if it's as you describe then I wouldn't have moved. The other guy was being a jerk.

If I was the green car and I pulled in before you reached the end of the road though, then tough luck for you!

Indeed ;)

Parking brake on, paper out, feet up until they sort themselves out and give you room to move - their initial impatience and lack of consideration has caused it all in the first place.

If it's looking like you're going to be there for a while, engine off and flask of coffee out of the bag.
