Andrew Lincoln to leave The Walking Dead

It started to go downhill after they bumped off Beth, just as Daryl was looking like he might be able to get his end away at last.

Shame but it's ran it's it's course.

I'm different to most in that I thought the first season was dross full of all the stereotypical zombie tropes going.

I thought it got steadily better and peaked when they escaped Terminus (the big train yard place) and since then it's been in a death spiral of repetitive storylines, no real progress and just riddled with Deus ex machina.

I think they had a chance to revivify the series but I think they have kept missing these chances. I'm completely out now and moved onto other things but even as a lapsed fan it's a shame to see it go out on such a whimper.

Can't see this guy having much of a career outside of the show. Same thing seems to happen with most main leads of big shows.
He's been in some quite popular series already, including Teachers and This Life (which was hugely popular back in the 90's). A few years ago he was an outside contender to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond (I think he's now too old for it and wouldn't be the best candidate, but he was rumoured to be a possibility).

Stopped at point ezekiel came into it? (guy with the tiger) cause that point became the talking dead, dull uninteresting and waste of 45mins not missed it since, Rick by that point needed to change and not be the main one imo.

They may as well come up with a means to transpose Daryl to FTWD now and have done with it.

I was reading Andrew Lincoln gets $92,000 per episode.

That's a lot of money to us, but compare that to the cast of friends getting 1 million dollars an episode, 15 years ago.

Well the characters could just leave the group. Gives them an option to return at some point if they ever want to.

Doesn't seem like they'd want to though if the rumours are true.

I'll echo what has been said earlier, it went rapidly downhill after David Morrissey left after S4. What became clear is that they had no intention of telling a story and were happy to recycle the same formula over and over again, defeat baddie, find new settlement, all appears fine, but you know it isn't, big fight, wash rinse repeat.

Then a short while after DM leaves we have the Glenn jumps the shark debacle. I did watch a little longer but my initial reaction was to immediately switch it off, and it's not often your gut instincts let you down.

Overall, a 6/10 from me, and really a poor investment of time after S4.

Gave up on the show a long time ago, but I really wish they wouldn't publicise things like this, it just kills all suspense.

Unless they're gonna shake things up and kill him in the middle of a random episode.

Guess I am one of the rare ones still enjoying this show then.

9 seasons is a good run though, they should just end it after he leaves.

I quite enjoyed this last season even though it has been not well received. Really loved the bit where the
guns blew up in the finale

I think part of the problem is they have strayed too far away from the comics. Fans tolerated the smaller differences between the two but when they start to get even further away like the Carl issue then fans will vote with their off buttons.
