Android Auto wireless dongle - anyone use one and is it any good?

Well, since my last post, mine has worked almost perfectly, connecting automatically each time I get in the car.

A couple of minor gripes:

Because the usb port stays powered for 5 mins or so after turning the car off, my phone will stay connected to the dongle's WiFi for a few minutes after I get back home.

There are very occasional audio dropouts for a moment. Maybe once or twice in a 10 minute drive. What I did notice today is that it seemed to get much worse in heavy/standstill traffic, so I wonder if it's something to do with being surrounded by 50+ phones in people's cars all querying the WiFi connection and just saturating the bandwidth?

If that's spotify/other dropouts , how do you distinguish buffering waiting for 4G bandwidth on the phone versus wi-fi issues - can even be an interaction between the two since phones usually have one basedband chip that handles both. -
was calculating today I'd be into 1GB/day phone contract if I wanted to receive Tidal hifi stream for a 80 minute return commute.

Not sure on the dropouts but with the usb port thing in the AAWireless app there's a 'start/stop' setting based I think off the screen being turned off (which happens in mine when I lock it), that's working nicely for mine so it disconnects 'immediately', seems to work ok for me.

Yes it's Spotify, and I have no idea how I would distinguish between the 2, just commenting that I noticed an increase in frequency of dropouts today when stuck in traffic on the M5 (every 2-3 minutes) vs normal day-to-day usage where I'll maybe have one (if any) in 30 minutes or so. Could just be coincidence due to being relatively stationary in a low mobile signal area, but does make sense to me that if there are 30-40 other people's phones in range, all constantly polling the wifi connection, that it could cause some interference as well.

I did have this enabled originally, and I think that may have been something to do with why the connection was so flaky to start with. Since I disabled that it has been great, so I'm hesitant to turn it back on! From what I could tell, the app looks for the bluetooth connection to the car stereo on whether to connect to the hotspot, and possibly there's some delay in enabling the USB port vs the stereo or vice versa? I should really do some more experimenting with it, but if it ain't (too) broke... :p

Part of Apple’s problem, according to Opensignal, is that the iPhone-maker has prioritized capabilities like facial recognition, battery life, and fast application processors and graphics over wireless network experience capabilities.
