Android or Apple?

My point exactly...tell that to people like Robboftw who just say 'The simple fact that everything about the iPad is better?'

because it is. just because you and a few others rely only a coupld of things that the ipad cannot do does not mean it is not the best out there. it simply is.

^ It's magic yeah?

Going off topic... The only tablet I ever wanted was the TC1100 Tom Cruise used in Collateral. :o

Check out this cheesy vid from 03. Love the quote "as thick as a pad of paper" The yellow pages maybe? :D

Shame it was almost £2k over my budget back then  :(

The Xoom has potential, but it's really not a convincing competitor to the iPad in any way right now. The Engadget review identifies all the points I'd make:

Too much in both the design (like those wonky buttons) or the software (like the feeling that this is all very much in beta) makes you wonder if this wasn't rushed out to market in order to beat the next wave from Apple. Regardless, there isn't much here for consumers right now. The Android Market is almost devoid of tablet applications, the OS feels buggy and unfinished, and the hardware has pain points that we find troubling.

Wheras the iPad is just an overgrown iPod Touch... that would insinuate that until they can replace paper, tablets are just devices for people with more money than sense?

That said, a decent one does make a good alternative to a netbook. Hmm.

I don't see the appeal of a netbook, it just isn't good enough for me to use around the house when I have a laptop and a desktop. and I am not going to use it out and about as it is too big for my pocket.

That aside the ipad2 has decent specs and is obviously well made and built, however the Apple OS makes it even more useless than an Android Tablet.

Lack of itunes isn't a bad thing!

It annoys me when people say that, It is the size that makes it useful and is what is different to an ipod. Android tablet is just an overgrown phone.
It has many great uses 90% down to formfactor, 10% down to a mobile OS.
It's not just for the rich it is for anyone who wants a media device, that's what these are at the moment, a media device for when you are out, on the sofa or in bed.

it's a very bad thing, unless they have a credible alternative, but at the moment they have nothing.

If you don't like or have no need for itunes, I certainly refuse to use it in its current form, go Android. If I had both, I would use the Android more but this is a personal preference as I like to customize my gadgets .
