Animal Crossing: New Horizons

literally every island has been apples and coconut, just wanted to check I wasn’t doing something wrong lol

I started with cherries, second island was oranges but been all cherries since.

My orange trees started giving fruit today which was great, still 150k away from paying off that evil racoon!

I have a Switch, I’m bored, this game is highly rated. Looking at the videos I still don’t know what this game is about. What’s the end game what are you working towards? Just building a village on an island?

Yeah pretty much, there simple are crafting mechanics, collect x number of iron and wood to build y, daily tasks like collecting and selling fruit, catching bugs and fish, digging up fossils etc.

If the gameplay loop of collecting and selling doesn't appeal then probably best to skip it unless you can try it yourself (at some point when we're allowed out again).

Have you played Breath of the Wild?

I'm thinking of stopping playing until this Easter crap is done as all these eggs are getting on my nerves, especially as there is nothing worth crafting with them.

I agree its a bit much for my tastes. Still plenty to do outside of that though.

I guess however, if you were to start right now, then you wouldn't get much other than Easter stuff! I just finish the really small or really big shadows, catch the bugs. I went on an easter crafting madness for the sake of an achievement at the end of all of this, no idea how many more recipes I need, if any.

What do you get for completing all the Easter stuff?

Question about turnips and time travelling, what's the best way to do this to maximise return, is there any negative impact?

I'm quite happy grinding away in my own game but have a character for my 5 year old and she just wants a bigger house and to buy clothes.

I can't afford to keep sending her money as need it for my own house, bridges etc. Two mortgages is too much for me! :D

I believe from the info I have seen that time travelling is fine as long as you don't go past the following Saturday, is that right?

is this game worth it ?

In what sense?

Value for money (as in hours played) I've already done alright out of it, and my daughters like it so that's a bonus.

Is there a lot of grinding? Yes, but that didn't stop WoW.

If you're not sure then I'd recommend buying it on cartridge so you can try it for yourself and sell on for almost what you paid if you don't enjoy it.

I'm dipping in 20-30 minutes a day, it is repetitive by nature and you're nearly always grinding for something (how hard is up to you of course). I think Phate is spot on though, the long term satisfaction is from organising/customising the island. How much that resonates with you will depend on how OCD you are or how much you enjoy making a little island utopia.

I'm in the middle, I like the idea of having it all done but not relishing digging up all of the trees I planted in order to make my "orchards" look nice. For the most part I just play it with my daughter, largely propping up her spending habits!

I'm doing similar, my daughter just likes buying clothes and wants a bigger house so I'm working to keep her, not unlike real life to be honest... :)

I've put in about 35 hours so I've had more return from AC than half the games I own although I'm finding it a bit too grindy. Foreign fruit seems to be the only decent earner which doesn't take a lot of time but can only farm that every few days.

I like crafting but simple things like fish bait need to be able to be done in stacks, select recipe, cue animation and say yes to keep crafting and then select it again, over and over is just frustrating.

I'm also disappointed with bridge and slope building, so expensive to add some simple quality of life stuff to save getting out a ladder or vaulting pole.

Considered selling AC but if the kids enjoy it then worth keeping, plus can just dip in and out from time to time alongside whatever else I'm playing.

I got KK Slider the other day so now able to path and landscape but oh my god how bad is laying paths.

I'm sure you get the hang of it but is so slow, why can't we have an interface like in home where things align.

You could pave a large section maybe but have to wait a day or two for it to be built, not sure I can be bothered to do this one square at a time.

Wondering if someone could point me in the right direction, I only have pears and coconut trees on my island:o

Do I just have to grind the nook air tickets and hope I actually land on a island that has other fruit?

Every island I go to is more or less jut the same:p

I'm not sure if I can post fruit, I'll check later and if I can I can send you one of each.

Otherwise one of us can travel to the others island and trade them directly.

Summer update wave 2 details announced.

https://www.animal-crossing.com/new...ake-their-way-to-animal-crossing-new-horizons

Available starting on July 30, the free Summer Update – Wave 2 will add the following features to the game:

  • Fireworks Shows – Enjoy atmospheric fireworks lighting up the sky above your island every Sunday in August at 7 p.m. Get in the spirit by redeeming Bells for raffle tickets in the plaza to get various festive items that you can use. Put your personal spin on the fireworks display by using your own custom design pattern to see it shot in the air as a firework in the sky!
  • Dreaming – You can now choose to take a nap in any bed placed in your home.** While dozing off, you may find yourself in a strange realm where you’ll be greeted by Luna. Luna offers visits to other islands as a dream, and with her help, you can share your island as a dream with others too.*** She will grant those who share their island a “Dream Address” which players can exchange and use to visit each other’s island in a dream. In dreams, nothing is permanent because nothing you do is saved, so explore to your heart’s content.
  • Island Backup & Restoration Service – Nintendo Switch Online members can enable the new island backup service, which automatically uploads island and user save data to the internet at certain times. If your Nintendo Switch system is lost or damaged, you may be able to recover your island paradise as long as you’ve enabled island backup. In the event of loss or damage, contact Nintendo Consumer Support about restoring the island and user save data on your new or repaired Nintendo Switch system. After your island data and individual player data is restored, you can get back to building your island community!
