Anjem Choudary Convicted :)

And a British Bill of Rights isn't going to help get Choudary deported. He was born in the UK.

I am aware of that. I am only stating what she said herself over the time she was the Home Sec - We'll see I guess, politicians do have a habit of promising things up until they achieve office! :)

Do you have a link to her saying that a British Bill of Rights would make it easier to deport Choudary? That's quite a gaff if she did say it.

I was going to say why can't we deport him, but just read up and seen that he was born here.

Always amazed why people like this stay in this country if it's one that they hate so much. There's plenty of other countries in this world where sharia law is more notably present. He would quite clearly be more comfortable living in those places.

Because it's far easier to criticise the country you live in from it's comfort and safety than go where you claim it's better but you know is going to be far more dangerous and you don't get your comfy life.
This is especially true of the people that make quite a nice living out of making the claims.

Been a long time coming, as a Muslim this pleases me to no end. About time this so called Muslim got his just desserts.

Now we just need to eradicate more of these muppets.

+1.6Billion - He's been a thorn in the side of Islamic perceptions here in the UK for too long, spouting his rubbish. This action is a great example to the rest of the wanna-be-extremists - we will not tolerate it.

I'm nearly as happy to see that Britain First got a doing from the police recently too so it's balanced across the board, and negates any criticism of targeting a single demographic / faith/ race etc. Extremism is not welcome in our society in any form.

She was referring to Hamza with regards to deportation from what I remember, I was speaking in general 'hate preacher' terms with regards to the proposed British Bill of Rights.

Finally. But what I would like to know is:

Why did it take 20 years to put him behind bars?
Why did media put a microphone in front of him for his opinion on any Islamic matter?

Coward springs to mind.

All talk and that...

because he didn't previously do anything illegal, he was a nuisance and he inspired people to follow a more extreme form of Islam which then lead to some becoming terrorists but he didn't (at least not publicly) seem to say anything that broke the law... until he seemingly voiced support for ISIS that is

Makes sense.

But he didn't start recruiting or infecting people today or yesterday, he has been doing it for years.

Why was he not under surveillance and caught earlier?

Even if they had something on him, he wouldn't have received much of a sentence, probably just public order offences. At least now he's been handed a pretty hefty sentence.

If he hasn't broken the law you can't just "disappear" him because he is a nusenc that's a very slippery slope and not somewhere I (and I assume most others) would want this country to head.

You don't want it to happen, but you'll happily make the situation such that its required regardless and blame someone else for it aswell.

I can see a massive back lash happening after this, some total nutters out there.

My thoughts also, possibly another reason that a lot of information has been held back along with the release of his conviction, they are possibly keeping a very close surveillance on all connected to him that they know of and are out walking the streets.

Still won't stop a random though.

He probably was under surveillance for years - what makes you think otherwise?

I'm not sure he has been accused of directly recruiting anyone.

A guy whose followers went on to commit horrendous crimes. What did he teach them? What did he say? What was he preaching to others?

I'm sure he was careful in public but was he really that careful outside the public domain?

It takes 20 years to catch him?
