Am kind of considering this.

Couple of questions
Is it anything like Civ 5?
How much actual warring do we have to do, or can it be a peaceful kind of existence if you want it to be?

It's more like SimCity4 than Civ.

Personally I turn all aggressive AI off, including passive AI who expand accross islands so I don't need to be aggressive myself and just play a peaceful city builder/logistics manager.

Its what we all do :p Dont know a single person who buys this game to battle / aggressively expand.

Glad I am not the only one then.

You all playing the campaign, or just a continuous game?

Loving the global stats tracking - seems lots are going down the eco route.

Edit: If you have this, feel free to add me on Steam or my Ubisoft profile - Captainrave is the name :)

tbh I'm 90% continuous game. I never touched the campaign on 1404. Although I have done the first few missions and the dailies and the world event. It has prupose at least, what with unlocking cool stuff!

Ooh ok, I'm quite interested now I know it's not about war :)

Also then, if you buy a retail version does it activate on Steam? Or do you have to buy the Steam version for it to play on Steam?

You have to buy the Steam version for it to play on Steam.

Really annoying that I can't alt-tab this game - and it keeps forgetting some of my settings.

I feel like a player needs to know the game really well (Exact production chains, good idea of how many production chains per X population, excellent building layouts) before war in the game is fun for them.

I recently started trying some war games in 1404, as I know it pretty much inside out by now, and it's actually really fun having a different set of objectives. Not being able to pick and the choose the most optimal islands to colonise is an iteresting challenge, along with having different levels of productions. In peaceful, I typically only have one or two tool loops, one or two rope loops and one weapons loop, but in war game need many more in order to keep constructing at a steady rate, keep troop/ship production high and also have high value goods to sell to offset frequent periods of negative income.

Edit.

Is there any way for me to check my current career points/what they go towards? I can't seem to find anything related to it in the main menu.

If yuo're in the menu or escape in game, at the very top left is your portrait pic. click that and theres a load of stats / achievements / ark setup, and career progression. You click on the circles along the career track and it tells you what they are and how much it costs.

Where in options? I seem to have gone blind :(

Silly boy :p

Stuck on Chapter 1 Campaign 3. Yana says I need to build an employee's house but no matter how many houses I build, the Eco's won't make use of their ascension rights. All their needs are at 100%.

Added Zumii, Maria and Captain :)

Would be good to have a few good games together, since im such a noob ;p
