I've enjoyed the past Anno games. Looks like i'll be getting this one too. The setting looks interesting!

You mean you Jack Sparrow it ;)

dont blame him tbh

im not condoning it but stupid DRM schemes encourage piracy rather than stop it imo

anno 1404 had a limited activations and no revoke tool but they patched it out after 6 months or so

hope they do the same for this

I've been playing anno since 1602 and welcome this new take on the franchise. Although I admit the previous iterations of the game have been extremely addictive, they are somewhat repetitive in nature, leading us down the same path, using similar historical backdrops and era's. I can't wait for this :)

Anyone have any idea why Anno 1404 is not available for purchase on Steam now?

EDIT: Seems there's some argy-bargy about Ubisoft not patching the US version on Steam so Steam have withdrawn it from sale. Effin typical useless Ubisoft morons.

Yeah i was going to buy it over the weekend but saw it's no longer available to purchase. Like you say... typical clueless Ubisoft alienating PC gamers even more...

Anno 1404 belongs to my top favourite games ever, so I'm very excited to read this news.

On the other hand, I agree fully with the posts above expressing trepidation about Ubisoft's DRM being involved. Now this is my view on Ubisoft's DRM, and no amount of flaming from anyone is going to change that: If I'm forced to accept their online-always-regardless-of-game-mode crap, then I'm just not going to buy it, just as I didn't buy Settlers 7 or Silent Hunter 5.

But that's OK by me, there's lots of other stuff to get. As a company, it's their right to implement any anti-pirate mechanisms they like, and as a customer it's my right to say: get stuffed!

I have not played any of these games but that looks pretty good. might pick up 1404 and see what they are all about.

Absolutely loved 1404, this should be excellent game play wise. I'm not so sure about the setting myself, I prefer this type of game to be historical. But I'll definitely buy it!

Looks like I'll need a new graphics card for it though.

No, no, no.

I want a anno "all the way through the ages" type game, I dont see the point of a future game, theres no sense of achievement, from working your way up from the small time.

Which is why I never start a game of civilization in the future, I like to see the progression.

the drm has been completely removed with the latest patch

same goes for venice

Does that apply to Steam as well? Last time I looked they still had Tages on there. The main game isn't available there atm though. I bought the retail versions a while back so yeah, they are clean now.

This 2070 could go either way, not sure the formula would work in a more futuristic setting tbh. So you can be a tree hugger or evil capitalist eh? :D I'll be keeping an eye on it, since I've not been dissapointed with any Anno game so far, 1404 in particular was a great game :)
