Annoying noise

I agree and i'm attempting to book it in now but I need a courtesy car and saying they cant provide one next week

Then you need to weigh up how much you value the inconvenience of public transport.

Me, i would be dropping that car off today, not booking it in.

Tell them you need the car looked at before the warranty expires, or if you've had the car less than a month ring the salesman who sold you it and ask for it to be seen to sooner rather than later and tell him he needs to sort you a car out.

Thanks thats done, I spoke to the General Manager and its being looked at on Wednesday even though the warranty expires on Monday/Tuesday it will still be looked at under warranty. The problem I have is I really need a courtesy car and as yet they cant provide one, i'm waiting for them to get back to me but I wont find out until tomorrow now as the General Manager is now out for the rest of the day apparently

See the problem he's got is he aint one of your old Mercedes dealer customers that you had a vested interest in keeping happy.

This car is now a pain in the arse to that dealer, so now he has to get a bit pro active with this.

as DiamondMark said, drop it off then its their problem, if it goes bang outside of warranty the cost just isnt worth thinking about.

Garages arent obliged to provide you with a courtesy car at short notice regardless of the cost of the car unless your warranty specifically includes that as part of the contract.

public transport > gearbox failure

As i've said they have booked it in for Wednesday, i'm just waiting to find out about a courtesy car

Now you are saying I should go down there, right now, drop the car off give them the keys and say "its your problem now" Do a commando role out of the showroom, walk home, have no car all bank holiday weekend, somehow do my job on Tuesday, Wednesday until when ever it is I get the car back or get a courtesy car!? Come on be realistic!

I'm more worried now because you're all making it seem like they wont honour the warranty when I reported the issue in warranty and they are seeing it after it expires

I have already said they have booked it in for Wednesday, i'm juts waiting to find out about a courtesy car

No don't do that, make sure the GM understands that the warranty runs out on Monday and make sure he's prepared to honour any work carried out on Wednesday, keep the car until Wednesday and drop it off as agreed.

Hopefully they have sorted out alternative transport for you, if they haven't then make sure they understand that you'll be hiring a cheap car and billing them for it.

You need to wake up mate, if they can shrug that warranty off they will.

Yes drop the car off now, before you make it worse, or not its up to you really.

There are two of us, the other doesnt drive and is on holiday all next week and this afternoon, theres not a cat in hells chance of taking a day off

Whats the problem with leaving it until Wednesday and waiting for them to get back to me tomorrow about a courtesy car?

what is your employer going to do if your car breaks down in the next 5 minutes and it wont move ?

Will the world end ?

Do you see all these people saying the same thing?

People in the motor trade and with a lot of car experience?

They are all saying the same thing because they are right.

Dealers will try and argue anything to get out of a warranty claim.

I had that with the vauxhall (i'm sorry sir but thats not covered, the 3rd year warranty doesnt cover anything electrical. Me: but i've got one years network Q warranty as i bought the car second hand. Them: its still not covered)

Dont give them a chance !

I'm really unsure what you actually want from this thread. You wanted advice but aren't prepared to make that advice work. So you want an alternative? Ok, keep the car, run the gearbox into the ground then source a replacement and fit it yourself for around £400, or pay for a new/reconditioned one to be fitted at costs approaching £1,000.

Better?

Just drop it off, right now, telling them that its warranty work that needs doing before the warranty expires, they WILL try to wriggle out of it if you wait. Then deal with your day-to-day life as best you can for the meantime. Even taking unpaid leave would be cheaper than waiting for the 'box to implode.
