Purchase date.

I won't pick on your incorrect dates though.

cheers thats good to hear :)

Why are my dates incorrect though? It was made on the 2nd Febuary 2006 and I bought it on 3rd March 2006

didnt notice never mind, it was actually 3006 if u want to be accurate :p both the 2+3 keys get pushed down at the same time on my keyboard sometimes so when I press 2 it puts a 3 and the same if I push a 3 I get a 2

Ok, I've just tried this.. they will not budge! Claim that 'it's not on the official MS or xbox 360 website' and just tell me to get lost.

Whoever I was speaking to said that he's been to his supervisor many times about it, and that it is a 'rumor'.

I then mentioned that someone I knew (ok, slight stretch of the truth!) had got theirs fixed for free, outside of warranty, and he said he would only take that into account if I told him the details of that person (serial and so on). I of course didn't have this to hand so couldn't do it.

So is this quoted source official? What did you say/do to get them to budge! Really wound up here!

Well she did start to say that it was a rumour then she left to check with her manager, came back and said ok we'll repair it under warranty. But due to the bad weather UPS still havnt picked it up.

Sorry to hear that you haven't had my luck, I'm still gonna try and get some sort of warranty on the repair/refurb they give me.

Edit - Sorry heres where i got the info from http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=19878

Ok, so literally you just quoted that article and she did it? This guy I was speaking to was having none of it. Refused to believe you'd had it done, said he'd only accept it with you serial etc.. just crazy.

I must admit this isn't my strong point - I didn't give up straight away, but he just would not back down or contact anyone else - he'd said lots of people had been asking him recently and his supervisor told him not to do it.

Do I just keep ringing till I get someone who'll do it? :P

Just keep harassing them (while being civil) and keep pointing them towards different pieces of information to help back up what your saying until they do it, they are human and will eventually get sick of it and will probably do it just to get rid of you. If not you may be stuck paying fo a repair.

The Above has always worked for a mate of mine because he just will not take no for an answer. :)

Alrik thats exactly what mine done, its an out of warranty disease if you ask me, every Xbox is catching it.

mines still in warenty (for a few weeks atleast) it still works but cannot handle any 360 game for more then 5-10 minutes. (original xbox games play fine though  )

I never tried an original game, at first I thought it was the dvd drive, but it kept crashing with any demo I tried from my hardrive after 5 minutes.

Lucky you still have warranty.

After all this talk I'm praying I don't end up getting a bill from Microsoft. The girl did say warranty, and i did get a prepaid UPS delivery thingy.

6 week old core system just gone here, graphic issue's, tearing , flickering and banding, Took it back to the shop that you make jumpers from and 1 min later walked out with new one, no arguing, nothing.

Looks like mine may be on its way out.

It's crashed (frozen) the last 4 times i've booted it up today, but no 3 red lights yet. It's 4 weeks out of warranty (Jan 12th). I hardly even get to play it. It's only ever plugged in when i'm using it (about 3 hours a week) because the wireless pad technology plays havoc with our video senders.

edit: Now i have the famous 3 red lights. Great.

Quote the sale of goods act to them which states you can seek compensation from the manufacturer for the cost of repairing a product that breaks during the first 6 years of it's life. The 12 month warranty they provide is in addition to not instead of your statutory rights. I doubt they have a clue about UK law.

Well, as it was a boring sunday, I decided to have a crack at fixing my 360. Afterall i didn't really have anything to lose, and a lot to gain.

Tried the heat gun method (
), and what do you know, it worked! While it was open, i put some card on top of the CPU heatsink to give more direct airflow. Now i can spend the money I saved on a replacement case (black) for it and some other stuff. :D

Still haven't received my console back from Support.

They originally sent it to a morph of my old address and my new one, which obviously didn't get to me, it got returned to XBOX.
So they told me they need to get the console released again to send it back out which was 9 days ago, I rang them on Friday they said that the console still hasn't been sent out and the girl could not get into my account to find out why. She said that a manager will be in touch with me in 72hours, Still Waiting!!!

72 hours, wtf. love to know what the managers are doing that a 10 minute phone call takes them 72 hours to fit into their porn browsing schedule.

Does opening the box up not void warranty?
