Another £550 build

I was looking to pick one up for another build, the one mentioned in your original post.

**B Grade** HIS Radeon R9 280X iPower IceQ X2 TURBO 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Can't find it anywhere on the site now though.

It was essentially the same as the original build you posted.

I noticed this 280x for £180. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-160-PC

Is there anything costing less that's more powerful and will still work with that original build?

How about this R9 290 Windforce? Good cooler and only £10 more than the 770 b-grade and equal to the new 280X - 294mm long too so should fit in the case? A fair amount faster than the 280X too?

Did I choose the right R9 290 for the comparison? If it is and if it'll work with the build up top, I'll certainly go for it. Again the main issues would be

1. Will it work with a 550w PSU?
2. I assume that as I'll be hooking it up to a old VGA monitor to begin with that I'll need an adapter
3. The B Grade listing has it at a huge price decrease, so I'm a bit weary as to why it's that cheap.

No. wont work then.

You wont get a picture from it on your monitor.

The XFX is a better buy as many of the games are worth £20+ each, but again it wont work.

Digital only from the card (DVI-D ports) so a VGA/DVI adapter wont do sod all.

The GTX770+280 have DVI-I so will work.

Thanks for all your help through this. Out of the three GTX770's you listed, is there a specific one you'd choose? Also I assume that none of them would come with a VGA/DVI adapter, so I'd need to supply that on my own.

Being Bgrade there's no telling if the original adapter that was with them when sealed+new is still in the box (its not an item I think anyone would purposely keep/steal).

Gigabyte is probably the better choice due to the warranty and support.
