Another £550 build

I'd have to pay an extra £40-£50. Looking at the link Stuilid provided I'd roughly be looking at about a 15% to 25% increase in fps at 1080p depending on the game.

Not sure if I should swap now or wait until around this time next year and sell the card. I'll still be able to get high settings on most games at 1080p I think (doubtful about Witcher 3 though).

Got to agree with stulid then, it's your decision really

Personally I would go for the upgrade for just £40, but obviously that represents my views and not yours :)

Either way, both cards are good and will play 1080p games at high-ultra no problems at all

I've decided to return the 770 and go with the GTX 970 G1 (gigabyte).

I assume that it would still work with my build and that the gpu fans + 1 case fan + stock i5 fans would be sufficient? My other main concern is the card length. Every review I see has different lengths for the 970, ranging from 29-32cm. I think the 770 is around 32cm. Lastly the PSU requirement also seems lower for the 970 compared to the 770.

In terms of ventilation would the 770 be equal to the 970 when inside the raijintek case I bought? The GTX 970 is 2cm longer according the the gigabyte website. I think it might just be too big for the case without having to modify it.

Does anyone know how the SSD bay comes off?

Those four screws won't come out (the four tiny ones above and below the screws for securing the SSD), I think they're rivets. I've tried various screwdrivers and it's getting to the stage where I'm just grinding it. I know it's supposed to come out as it the case is stated as being able to take a 400mm card. I'm pretty sure I'll need it out for when I get a GTX 970 G1.

If it doesn't come out, can you slide the backend of the card into that space then slot it home?

I'm not sure, I'll have to wait until the card comes until I can do more I guess. I moved the SSD down below so perhaps it might just be able to slide behind that grate.

Also I ordered the GTX from here around 1pm today and choose next day delivery. The order currently states that it's printed in the warehouse. Does this mean I'll have it by tomorrow or more likely Wednesday?

Is the stock Intel Core i5 i5-4690K heatsink not good enough? My CPU fan settings on the gigabyte SIF were set to full speed while playing Battlefield 4 (ultra settings with a GTX 970) and I'm still getting a 94c reading for the CPU during play.

I'm aware that a third party heatsink would do a better job but surely I shouldn't be getting 94c during play on the CPU when the fan is going at 2400rpm?
