To be fair, I would take the Intel SSD over the HyperX, the HyperX was only handy when it was cheaper.

The D3H overclocks just fine and being cheaper than the X-D3H you can afford a heatsink to reach 4.4Ghz or maybe a little more. It would be wise to update it's firmware as it can be fussy with GPUs on the old BIOS, just an FYI

If Tam had used the Kingston SSD I linked he would have saved £10 to go towards a good value heatsink. It's all about balance.

I think the Intel SSD's quality is worth the extra £10 over the Kingston.

Like I said it's all about balancing the budget. The cheap £10 keyboard and mouse set isn't a bad idea either as these can be upgraded cheaply enough over time.

The i5K has £20ish off whilst on offer, which in my eyes helps pay for the achilles HS to overclock it. Deals change tomoz so makes sense not to hang around too long arguing what's best. I think the OP can balance something nice for the cash with all the info we've given him

That's probably true, but remember that you're using a vertex 2E and I'm using an Agility 3 and neither of us have had issues.

I got my Vertex 2E shortly after release and so did 2 of my friends, I've read plenty of horror stories and have no idea what they are all talking about! Neither my friends or myself have ever had any issues; never skipped a beat or even a BSOD!

That will do nicely.

It can still be overclocked a little bit (4Ghz'ish) then add a better heatsink later.

And you have solid core components.

All thats left is to decide wether to get the Corsair TX50M PSU instead.

Yes very true bud, I don't object to Tams spec either. I did try to keep a style or theme whilst using good value components. The 2TB drive is a good price but again it's a luxury that maybe isn't needed, the increase in price from the 500GB drive isn't savage though.

I do feel the entry level GB mobos are brilliant value but do look a bit "cheap" with the bright blue. I know a few people agree with me on this. So I tried to embrace it with the white and blue shinobi case which is priced very reasonably. The HIS 7950 has a blue PCB iirc which continues the theme. There is a HIS Boosted 7950 but why pay more when you can OC the cheaper card

The shinobi could have a window panel added later, at around £10ish it wouldn't make a bad present from someone. As let's face it a lot of the styling is wasted with an enclosed case. LED fans are also cheap (£5-10), adding one to the bottom of the case would improve the temps on the GPU to help OC that aswell and could add to the "styling". I was given a Bitfenix LED/Fan controller which allows me to turn the LEDs on/off for their LED Spectre fans. I did a review in exchange for it, not that it's essential just thought I'd point out ideas for "extras" or present ideas for down the line.

Of course he might not care at all for overclocking or styling. If he is, then he is welcome to come back and we can help talk him through setting up and tuning the best out of the system. I look forward to seeing what he puts together
