Would the 5850 be a worthwhile upgrade over a GTX 275, or would my system (QX6700) be too great a bottleneck?

Yes definitely a worthwhile upgrade and aslong as you've got a reasonable overclock on your cpu then I can't forsee any bottlenecking.

I've installed Crysis 2 on 2 of my systems, both have Q6600's@ 3.5, 4gig of ram on Asus P35 mobo's, one system has a 5850 the other a GTX 280 which I believe has similar specs to your 275. I haven't gone out of my way to compare the two gpu's, but I can tell you that Crysis 2 at extreme settings is too much for the GTX280 system (incidentally this is at 1920x1200) whereas the 5850 setup runs it with ease.

For you i'd say it's definitely a worthy upgrade, no brainer at that price. Also you'd probabaly get £50+ for the 275 on ebay.

Would one of the 5850's be Ok in my Shuttle with 400W power supply?
My SD37P2 with the 450W version of the PC55 PSU could run an XFX HD5850 1GB Black Edition at 840MHZ for the GPU and 1125MHZ for the RAM and a Q6600 overclocked to 2.67GHZ fine. However,my card has the reference cooler meaning most of the hot air is vented out of the case.

I also know someone on another forum who said that they can run an HD6870 1GB off a Shuttle 400W PSU.

More awesome deals, big thumbs up again to OcUK.

I wonder how long it'll be before we see some really cheap GTX 460 deals? Are these officially EOL now that the GTX 560 exists?

Does it matter what manufacturer? What sorta price am i lookin at

Ask OcUK guys which of their stock is the cheapest unlockable one. I think it's the MSI one that is £204, that XFX XXX on TWO is mighty cheaper (just £180) but I doubt you'd be able to unlock the shaders on it.

Alternatively, shop around.

Amazing deal will get mumsy one for her bday as a nice upgrade from a 4850 :D

Heres 2 in crossfire (£216.00) V's 1 nvidia 580 (£380.00) more performance in nearly all cases lol for half the price!

I wonder, if i bought one to go with my 5970, wouldn't i still be stuck with 1gb total memory per core.

Im just wondering of the 5850 will reduce the memory bottleneck the 5970 has when pushed?
