Another EA Origin Ban

Aaand this is why I'll never buy a game on Origin. I've already been screwed over by EA in non-Origin games (install limitations etc), and I'm keeping as far away from Origin as I can. It's a shame, I'd love to play BF3 - if only it was published by someone else and released on a different delivery platform.

*edit in case anyone from EA actually reads this thread:

EA can eat a ***.

Let me go to the wiki and paste what a Troll really is

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted".

While the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provocative actions and harassment outside of an online context. For example, mass media has used troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."[5][6]"

I have an opinion that is not being a Troll. You guys seem to use the word Troll everytime you don't agree with someone, easy way out I guess. Fingers crossed the above from the wiki clears things up for the people who seem to have no idea what a Troll really is.

Well Wikipedia gives a definition, so that must be the ONLY truth. I love your Black and White world and will have some of what you are smoking.

The OP clearly resolved the hacking issue to the satisfaction of all involved at the time.To use your definition of Trolling, you are defacing HIM by claiming that he had no right to appeal and should have been perma-banned without the ability to negotiate back his own property.

You are also eliciting more emotional responses from the other posters through your extreme position.

Please demonstrate, with clear examples and references, how permanent punishment for the OP's comparatively minor infraction is proportionate, justifiable and precedented or you can continue making yourself look foolish.

This is why wherever possible I'll create a new account for each game with origin. The fact that EA have the power to remove access to single player games for something completely unrelated in a different game is obscene. The fact that you are forced to use Origin to patch games by EA doesn't help either.

I actually disagree with the idea that you can be blanket banned from an entire account for cheating in a single game. I hate cheaters as much as the next guy, but cheating on a VAC CSS server, doesn't constitute that someone would cheat in TF2. You should get banned from what you were banned from, because that's the punishment that fits the crime.

Losing thousands of pounds worth of games because you insulted someone who insulted you first is pretty ridiculous, especially to anyone who has actually gamed for any length of time. If you troll EA forums, you should lose access to the forums, not your entire account. It doesn't make sense.

I'm a lot more concerned about the idea of false positives you can't do anything about than actual cheaters losing their account. Normally I just assume these storys are false, but this guy sounds fairly sincere. Either he's had an argument with an EA admin in BF3, and got owned for it, or he's been reported and whoevers reviewed it hasn't done due diligance, yet it's fairly difficult to get such access.

Either way, even if he's lying I can't see why its fair to lose your entire account, it's like your PC stopping working because you got banned from overclockers.co.uk. =/

Even if you did that you'd need a different CC and details for each account I think. The main reason he was singled out was because the sons AC had the same CC details, so if you had multiple accounts with roughly same details they'd probably ban all of them anyway :(

Well that sucks. Couldn't you just buy the "physical" copy and input the code, or does that still need a CC to do?

I only asked as that person was also banned from Origin due to his son using a hack in fifa on his Xbox.

Identical circumstances hence I wondered if you were the same person.

Does he post on here ? would be interested in how EA treated him ?

sorry that didnt make any sence.

Well if that guy is in this forum please come forward and post :)

No idea if he posts on here. I was just chatting to one of his clan mates earlier today who told me what had happened -

his kid used a hack on his xbox for fifa and his whole origin account got binned off

It would appear that happened about a month ago and he's subsequently had to create a new Origin account, purchase BF3 again and start with a new soldier.

You can troll by intentionally playing devil's advocate. It is possible to Troll whilst sustaining a coherent argument, albeit stupid.

Read through your posts hoping they'd get better. Sadly, I'm left with nothign but the regret that it's usually people like you who end up getting these positions of responsibility and making these ridiculous rules.

Well that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, very sorry that I am 100% against cheating/hackers and I am very pleased when they get caught.

Seems unfair to ban a whole accounts for any reason.

Hack a game lose MP access to that game, not difficult, anything else is just unnecessary. If your abusive to other players, warning/ban again losing MP access to that game.

If this happens multiple times, ban the whole account from MP. At no point should you lose access to your SP games.

That would be a logical and fair approach, but when have these companies ever been logical and fair :p

We only know his side of the story.
